Haneda Airport to Tokyo: trains, buses and late arrivals

For a hotel near Shinagawa Station, take Keikyu; for Hamamatsucho, take the Tokyo Monorail. For Shibuya or Shinjuku, change to JR at Shinagawa or choose a bus stopping near your hotel. After a late arrival, allow for immigration and baggage collection before deciding which departure you can reach.

Check your arrival terminal first

International flights use both Terminals 2 and 3. Check your flight number against your booking and the airport’s arrival information; the airline name alone does not establish the terminal.

International arrival at Terminal 3

  1. Complete immigration and baggage pickup at the arrival hall on the 2nd floor.
  2. For Keikyu towards Shinagawa, use the second-floor gate signed for Tokyo/Yokohama, rather than the other-direction gate on basement level 2. Then descend to the platform.
  3. For the monorail, use its separate second-floor gate on the arrivals level. There is also a gate on the third-floor departures level. Keikyu and the monorail use different stations.
  4. For a bus, check or buy your ticket on the second floor, then follow bus signs down to the third vehicle lane outside the first floor.

International arrival at Terminal 2

  1. Complete international arrivals and collect your luggage on the second floor. The domestic departures area on the same floor is separate.
  2. Follow Railways / 鉄道 signs to basement level 1.
  3. Keikyu uses Haneda Airport Terminal 1 and 2 Station · 羽田空港第1・第2ターミナル駅. The monorail uses Haneda Airport Terminal 2 Station · 羽田空港第2ターミナル駅. They have separate ticket gates.
  4. For buses, go to the first-floor stops. They are separate from the basement railway level.
Terminal 2 International Arrival Hall/Floor Map ↗

If arriving on a domestic flight at Terminal 1, start from first-floor arrivals. Trains use basement level 1; buses leave from outside the first floor. Keikyu shares the Terminal 1·2 station, while the monorail has a separate Terminal 1 station.

With large luggage, follow lift signs. Free inter-terminal shuttles do not run all night. Free rail-transfer tickets have conditions for passengers connecting between flights; an international arrival travelling into Tokyo does not automatically qualify. Official fares, timetables, conditions ↗

Regular tickets and IC fares are slightly different. If you transfer from Keikyu to JR, you pay separate fares for each company. Monorail + JR regular tickets are 720 yen for Tokyo Station, 680 yen for Yurakucho and Shimbashi, and 780 yen for Shibuya and Shinjuku, as shown in the official discount ticket comparison table. The total may vary if you use a transport IC card or take a different route.

When can you use the 590 yen monorail–Yamanote ticket?

Buy this one-way ticket at an airport station on the day of travel during eligible weekends, public holidays or special sales periods. It covers travel via Hamamatsucho to designated JR stations without leaving the gates en route. It is not restricted to foreign visitors. The current sales period is 14 March 2026–31 March 2027, including the special period 1–7 October 2026. For a Shinagawa hotel, compare the direct Keikyu journey before choosing it. From your arrival station to your hotel

Shinagawa · 品川

From your terminal, take Keikyu to Shinagawa, then walk or change trains for your hotel. Check the display for Shinagawa / Toei Asakusa Line services. Yokohama-bound trains go in a different direction; some journeys require a change at Keikyu Kamata Station · 京急蒲田駅.

Keikyu and JR Shinagawa are connected but have separate gates. Leave the station for a Shinagawa hotel; follow JR transfer signs for Shibuya, Shinjuku or Tokyo Station. Check whether your hotel is on the Takanawa or Konan side before choosing an exit.

Shinagawa Station → Shinagawa Prince Hotel · 品川プリンスホテル Walking Map ↗

Hamamatsucho · 浜松町

Take the monorail from your terminal to its terminus, Hamamatsucho. Follow JR transfer signs for the Yamanote or Keihin-Tohoku Line, or leave for your hotel. Allow time between the monorail and JR platforms.

Daimon Station · 大門駅 is a nearby subway station, separate from JR Hamamatsucho. For a hotel near Shiba or Zojoji Temple · 増上寺, use the hotel’s address for walking directions.

Hamamatsucho Station → Zojoji Temple · 増上寺 Walking Map ↗

Tokyo Station · 東京駅 / Ginza · 銀座

One route is Haneda → monorail → Hamamatsucho → JR towards Tokyo/Ueno → Tokyo Station. Another uses Keikyu to Shinagawa, then JR towards Tokyo. For Yaesu, compare the airport bus to Tekko Building; it does not drop you on the Marunouchi side.

For western Ginza, take the monorail to Hamamatsucho, JR to Yurakucho, then walk. Regular tickets total 680 yen: 520 yen monorail plus 160 yen JR. For southern Ginza, compare Shimbashi Station · 新橋駅. A further subway ride to Ginza costs extra.

Hibiya, Shiodome and Ginza airport-bus routes are marked suspended in the checked official airport list. Use another operating route.

Shibuya · 渋谷

Take Keikyu to Shinagawa, then the JR Yamanote Line towards Shibuya/Shinjuku. Do not board the opposite direction towards Tokyo/Ueno. Add the walk between Keikyu and JR platforms and the wait for your connection.

For a bus, choose your actual stop: Shibuya Station, Cerulean Tower or Mark City. The usual Terminal 3 stop is first-floor stop 4. The first service leaves Terminal 3 at 05:45 and Terminal 2 at 05:55; it does not call at Terminal 1.

That first service calls at Cerulean Tower and Mark City, not Shibuya Station. Check the destination column. Shibuya Mark City · 渋谷マークシティ is a different arrival point from the JR station.

Hachiko Exit → Shibuya Scramble Crossing · 渋谷スクランブル交差点 Walking Map ↗

Shinjuku · 新宿

For Shinjuku, take Keikyu to Shinagawa and change to the JR Yamanote Line towards Shibuya/Shinjuku. Keikyu does not run directly to Shinjuku. The monorail route requires a JR change at Hamamatsucho.

Choose a bus that calls at your required station exit, Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal or hotel. The first regular Shinjuku service in the checked timetable leaves Terminal 3 at 06:15 and Terminal 2 at 06:25, without calling at Terminal 1.

The last regular bus leaves Terminal 3 at 23:40 / Terminal 2 at 23:50 / Terminal 1 at 23:55. The general bus stops are number 3 on the first floor of Terminal 3, number 5 on the first floor of Terminal 2, and number 4 on the first floor of Terminal 1.

Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal (Busta Shinjuku) · バスタ新宿 is south of the station. For a west-side hotel or Kabukicho · 歌舞伎町 to the east, add the walk from your actual drop-off point.

JR’s New South Gate · 新南改札 connects directly with the bus terminal. Official directions estimate about 2 minutes from that gate or 4 minutes from the South Exit.

The New South Gate opens 05:45–24:00. Outside those hours, use the South Exit. Add ticketing and the walk to the bus boarding floor.

Late-night arrival at Haneda Airport: Can I catch the last train?

Plan from when you finish immigration and baggage collection, allowing time to reach the airport station. Also check the last JR connection at your transfer station. The table gives airport departures checked against weekday and weekend/holiday timetables.

The first Keikyu train from Terminal 3 is 05:26 → Shinagawa 05:46, and the last train to Shinagawa is 00:08 → 00:20. The Keikyu Kamata train departing at 00:13 on weekdays should not be considered the last train to Shinagawa.

An airport departure does not guarantee a final connection to Tokyo Station, Ginza, Shibuya or Shinjuku. Search the complete route using your date and arrival terminal, then compare JR departures at Shinagawa or Hamamatsucho. The first departure’s final arrival time also depends on onward connections. Be especially careful when going from Shinagawa to Shinjuku and Shibuya

According to the JR October 2026 Yamanote Line timetable for weekdays and weekends and holidays, the last service on the outer line from Shinagawa to Shibuya and Shinjuku departs at 00:20. Later Yamanote Line services from Shinagawa terminate at Osaki.

The last Keikyu train from Terminal 3 also arrives at Shinagawa at 00:20, so these two services are not a workable connection. Take an earlier Keikyu train and allow time to reach the JR ticket gate and platform.

The inner-loop Yamanote timetable towards Tokyo/Yurakucho shows a 00:32 departure from Hamamatsucho on weekdays and weekends/holidays. This is an onward JR departure, not an airport departure. Check the full journey to your hotel and same-day service notices.

Shinjuku late-night buses and the last Shibuya bus

The checked 4 October 2026 timetable gives a 2,800 yen adult fare for Shinjuku late-night buses. Terminal 3 departures are 00:20, 01:00, 01:40 and 02:20. The 00:20 service also leaves Terminal 2 at 00:05 and Terminal 1 at 00:10; the later three start at Terminal 3 and use stop 3 on the official map. For the 00:20 service, confirm the stop in ticketing and on-site information.

The last regular Shibuya bus leaves Terminal 3 at 22:35, Terminal 2 at 22:45 and Terminal 1 at 22:50. Keikyu Bus lists its Shibuya late-night route as suspended. A Shinjuku late-night bus does not take you to Shibuya.

The calendar date changes after midnight, so please select the actual boarding date.

After trains and buses finish: taxis or airport accommodation

For an unreserved taxi at Terminal 3, follow signs from second-floor arrivals to stand 21 in the second vehicle lane outside the first floor. The usual taxi stands at Terminals 1 and 2 are on the first floor. App and reserved vehicles use different meeting points.

App/reserved pickup information directs Terminal 1 passengers near second-floor exit 7 and Terminal 2 passengers near second-floor exit 2. For a reserved Terminal 3 taxi, check the P5 car park’s eighth-floor instructions.

Flat-rate taxi: Shinjuku-ku, Shibuya-ku, Chiyoda-ku

Based on the fare table effective on April 20, 2026, Shinjuku Ward is 9,000 yen / late night 10,700 yen, Shibuya Ward 8,500 yen / late night 10,000 yen, Chiyoda Ward 7,600 yen / late night 9,000 yen. This is per vehicle, and highway tolls and parking fees are separate.

Before boarding, check that the taxi company participates in the flat-rate scheme and that your destination address is covered. You can use the airport's official taxi stand without prior reservation, but other places' fixed-rate taxi services require reservations at least 1 hour in advance.

The night flat rate applies when the entire ride falls within 22:00–05:00. A changed destination or substantial detour can switch the trip to a metered fare.

Nearby districts and airport hotels

The three listed ward fares do not establish a fare for Shinagawa, Hamamatsucho or Ginza. Ginza is in Chuo Ward, with different conditions. Show your hotel’s address and ask which metered or flat-rate fare applies.

For an airport-connected or nearby hotel, check room availability, late check-in, the final terminal shuttle and how to reach it before booking. Tell the hotel your expected arrival time; rooms and prices are not guaranteed.

If you have a lot of luggage or are traveling alone late at night

A bus stopping near your hotel can reduce luggage transfers. For trains, find lift routes and save your transfer station, exit and hotel address. At night, use official stands or staffed counters and match the vehicle registration with your booking.

Before storing luggage in the bus compartment, remove power banks and carry them in the cabin. Keep your passport, phone and valuables with you. Check the operator’s baggage size and quantity limits, and collect your bags when getting off.

Official tickets and reservations

Select Haneda Airport as your departure point, the actual terminal, destination stop and boarding date. Midnight departures use the next calendar date. A daytime limousine voucher does not automatically cover a late-night bus. Ordinary Keikyu and monorail tickets are separate from bus reservations.

These are official operator links, not affiliate links. Fares in this guide and online offers may have different conditions. Confirm direction, date, exchange, reservation and refund rules before paying.

Haneda to Tokyo transfer FAQs

Where do international flights arrive at Terminal 2 or Terminal 3?

International flights use both Terminals 2 and 3. Match your flight number and date with your booking and the airport’s arrival information. Both international arrivals halls are on floor 2. Terminal 2 rail gates are on basement level 1; Terminal 3’s Tokyo-bound Keikyu gate and arrivals-level monorail gate are on floor 2.

Which route is more convenient to the accommodation: Keikyu or Monorail?

For Shinagawa, compare Keikyu first; for Hamamatsucho, compare the monorail. Either route can connect with JR for Tokyo Station. For Shibuya or Shinjuku, Keikyu to Shinagawa followed by the Yamanote Line is an option. With luggage, compare a bus that stops near your hotel.

If I arrive late at night, can I go to Shinjuku or Shibuya?

Check departures you can reach after immigration and baggage collection, including any onward JR connection. The checked 4 October 2026 timetable lists Shinjuku late-night buses from Terminal 3 at 00:20, 01:00, 01:40 and 02:20 for 2,800 yen per adult. Keikyu Bus lists the Shibuya late-night route as suspended. Confirm service and seats for your date; otherwise compare an official taxi or airport hotel.

What do I do if my flight is delayed and I miss the bus I reserved?

Contact the operator or seller before the booked departure and check the change and cancellation rules for your ticket. Flight delays do not automatically change a bus reservation, guarantee a seat on a later bus or entitle you to a refund. Use the official reservation page to confirm availability and the rules for your travel date.

Are Haneda and Narita the same airport?

No. Haneda is HND and Narita is NRT. Their terminals, stations and bus stops are separate. A Narita-only ticket does not automatically cover Haneda; check the airport and direction before buying.

Can anyone use the 590 yen discount coupon for riding both the monorail and JR?

It is not restricted to foreign visitors, but eligible dates and stations apply. Buy it at an airport station on the day of travel during designated weekends, public holidays or special sales periods, and travel via Hamamatsucho without leaving the gates en route. You cannot buy it for another day in advance. The listed special period includes 1–7 October 2026; check the official conditions for your date.
