Connected to official cameras
Japan Live Now lists tourism cameras published by government agencies, municipalities, tourism associations, national parks, public institutions, official tourism facilities, and broadcasters operating their own cameras. Video is watched on the operator’s website. This site does not play, record, or retransmit video.
Images and connection status
A “Periodically updated image” is a snapshot supplied by the operator. It may lag behind the current scene, and the capture time is not always available. Fixed previews are labeled “Not a live image.” A camera icon is shown when a usable preview is not available.
“Connection last checked” means that the source URL was checked, not that a video is currently broadcasting. Temporary failures appear gray; repeatedly confirmed unavailable sources are hidden from the map. Seasonal categories describe the destination and do not guarantee current snow, blossoms, or foliage.
Location accuracy
Markers indicate an officially identified camera installation or its host facility. They are not placed at the center of the mountain or landmark being viewed. Facility-level positions are identified on each camera page.

地理院地図Vector / Geospatial Information Authority of Japan — experimental_bvmap. Fallback and detail maps use GSI vector tiles with simplified styling and editable labels, not raster images with baked-in names.
Map labels stay in the selected language. Provider English names take priority, with editorial translations for major cities, landmarks and all 47 prefectures. Minor names without a known translation are omitted instead of reverting to Japanese. Once a basemap has displayed successfully, temporary errors during pan or zoom do not switch its provider.
Dokdo is labeled “독도” in Korean and “Dokdo” in English on all maps. Duplicate provider labels are suppressed only around its location; unrelated places with matching names are unchanged. Location reference: Northeast Asian History Foundation.
This site displays the sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan as “동해” in Korean and “East Sea” in English on primary, fallback, and detail maps. Provider label positions and zoom visibility are retained. This naming adaptation does not change camera locations or map boundaries.
