Komatsu Airport to Kanazawa and Komatsu

For a hotel near Kanazawa Station, take the airport limousine bus to the west side of the station: 1,400 yen per adult. For Korinbo or Katamachi, check whether your bus continues to Korinbo; otherwise, change to a city bus or taxi at Kanazawa Station. For a hotel near Komatsu Station, use airport bus stop 3 instead. That bus costs 310 yen.

Distinguish between direct travel to Kanazawa and transfer to Komatsu Station.

Travel northeast from the airport to Kanazawa Station. Komatsu Station, located near the airport, is a different station from Kanazawa Station. There is no rail station in the airport terminal. To use the train, you must first take a bus to Komatsu Station.

This is a conceptual diagram of the movement route on the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) background map. The pink one is a direct route to Kanazawa and the Korinbo extension, and the blue one is a bus and rail transfer at Komatsu Station. Dotted lines and arrows show the direction of travel and are not actual road or rail routes.

Compare fare, on-board journey time, and luggage together

The time in the table is the vehicle on-board journey time. You must add the time required for immigration, baggage collection, waiting for the bus, transferring to the station, and walking to your accommodation. Transferring to regular trains is cheap, but it cannot be guaranteed that the bus and train will connect directly.

From the arrival hall to the airport bus stop

  1. Complete immigration procedures and baggage pickup at the arrival lobby on the 1st floor. Before heading out, pick a ticket to your destination from a vending machine.
  2. Check the destination for Kanazawa Station West Exit (金沢駅西口) or Korinbo (香林坊). Use number 1 outside for Kanazawa and use number 2 for additional vehicles according to on-site instructions. Take number 3 to Komatsu Station.
  3. Hokuriku Railroad · 北陸鉄道 operates the Komatsu Airport Limousine Bus and does not accept seat reservations. Hokutetsu Kaga Bus · 北鉄加賀バス operates the Komatsu Station service. These are buses you board at the airport, separate from pre-booked vehicle pickups. For Komatsu Station, prepare cash or ICa and check the terminal’s payment signs for other supported cards.
  4. Place the ticket in the fare box when disembarking. Kanazawa Limousine offers cash, local card ICa, supported card touch payment, and official digital tickets. Only 1,000 yen notes can be exchanged in the car, so prepare change. Do not assume that Suica/ICOCA will work on airport buses.
  5. Check whether large luggage can be loaded and then load or unload it yourself. Do not leave valuables or fragile items in the trunk. Please check the on-site vending machines and in-vehicle payment indications bound for Komatsu Station. Luggage space may vary depending on the vehicle.

Limousines have a seating capacity system, so standing is not allowed. If the bus is full, you may be given a spare seat or be guided to the next bus, and large luggage may be refused due to space.

Accommodations around Kanazawa Station: Get off on the west side and look at the address

The west side of Kanazawa Station is Kanazawa Port Gate · 金沢港口(西口). After the roughly 40-minute bus ride, get off at the airport-bus drop-off area and collect your luggage. This is a different location from west-side stop 3, where buses leave for the airport.

To get to the accommodation on the west side, you can walk according to the address on the pedestrian path outside the station building. If you are using the east side lodging or tour bus, enter the station building and follow the signs for Kenrokuen Gate · 兼六園口(東口) on the free passageway on the first floor and exit on the other side.

When changing exits only, do not pass through the railway turnstile. If you are taking the train, please look at the IR/Shinkansen ticket gate signs in the aisle.

Get off the bus → West station entrance → Free passage → East exit → City loop bus stop 7. If you first check which exit the accommodation is right in front of the station, you can avoid having to drag your suitcase back.

Korinbo/Katamachi accommodation: Check first if it is a direct flight.

Korinbo · 香林坊 and Katamachi · 片町 are hotel districts southeast of Kanazawa Station. Only some airport buses continue there. In the 1–24 October timetable, the services connecting with ANA759 (scheduled arrival 21:35) and JAL193 (21:45) continue to Korinbo. If you arrive during the day, continue from Kanazawa Station.

If you took the airport bus to Korinbo

Stay on the bus after Kanazawa Station and get off at Korinbo. The operator’s diagram places the drop-off area beside Ishikawa Fourth High School Memorial Museum · 石川四高記念文化交流館.

Differentiate from Korinbo No. 6 and Toyokoin-mae (東横イン前) that you ride on your way back home. Depending on whether your accommodation address is Korinbo or Katamachi South, the direction and distance to get off and walk varies. The coordinates below are reference locations for the drop-off area and are based on on-site signs and driver guidance.

If you transfer to a city bus at the station during the day

West drop-off point → Station free passage → East No. 7 → Kanazawa City Loop Bus · Kanazawa Loop Bus · Take the left turn (LL・左回り) on the 城下まち金沢周遊バス. In front of Korinbo Atrio is about 10 minutes, and in front of Katamachi Pasion is about 12 minutes.

Adults pay 220 yen separately from the airport bus.

In addition to cash, ICa, supported card touch payment, and digital tickets, city circulation buses offer nationwide transport IC cards such as Suica and ICOCA. Even for the same Hokuriku Railway bus, the payment range is different from the airport limousine. If you have a lot of luggage, please show your accommodation name and address at the station taxi stand.

Transfer to Komatsu Station accommodation or from the station to Kanazawa

  1. Arrival lobby on the 1st floor of the airport → Prepare ticket and 310 yen payment → Bus stop 3 outside.
  2. Take the bus bound for Komatsu Station and get off in front of the station in about 12 minutes. Some self-driving flights last approximately 15 minutes and depart at set times. There is no direct flight to Kanazawa.
  3. Walk to the accommodation address in front of West Station. When continuing by rail, go to the west station entrance → 1st floor IR ticket vending machine and ticket gate. This is different from the Shinkansen ticket gate.
  4. Buy an IR ticket to Kanazawa (580 yen) and take a regular train toward Kanazawa. Check the departure board on the departure board, and if you have picked up a suitcase, use the elevator on the premises.
  5. After about 33 to 35 minutes, go to Kanazawa Station → Outside the ticket gate → Continue to the exit toward your accommodation or to the east bus stop No. 7.

The local trains use the IR Ishikawa Railway Line · IRいしかわ鉄道線, operated by IR Ishikawa Railway · IRいしかわ鉄道. Older JR Hokuriku Main Line guides and rail-pass descriptions may no longer apply.

Airport bus 310 + regular train 580 = 890 yen, 1 transfer. There are no separate express fares or seat reservations on regular trains.

If you choose the Shinkansen

JR West operates the Hokuriku Shinkansen · 北陸新幹線. The ride from Komatsu to Kanazawa takes about 11–12 minutes. Choose a service that stops at Komatsu, such as an appropriate Tsurugi or Hakutaka, and check its seating arrangements.

All seats in Kagayaki are reserved, and not all trains stop at Komatsu.

A non-reserved ticket costs 1,390 yen: 510 yen basic fare plus an 880 yen limited-express charge. Including the 310 yen airport bus, the total is 1,700 yen. The reserved-seat search for Tsurugi 16 on 5 October 2026 showed 2,710 yen (510 + 2,200), or 3,020 yen including the bus. Reserved fares vary by date.

For non-reserved seats, you do not specify a seat, and for reserved seats, you select the train and seat. In principle, official online reservations begin at 10:00 AM (JST) on the same day, one month prior to the date of use.

IR local trains and the Shinkansen use different gates, tickets and fares. For a rail pass, check current IR coverage, eligible JR trains and reservation rules. Airport buses are a separate journey.

If your suitcase is large, try walking after transferring and getting off.

The Kanazawa limousine has a luggage compartment, but space is limited. Komatsu Station and city buses may not provide the same storage. IR local trains allow up to two items, each weighing no more than 30 kg, measuring no more than 250 cm in combined height, width and depth, and no more than 2 m long. Allow time to reach the ticket gates and lifts with your luggage.

For Shinkansen, see JR’s official baggage information. The Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu seat reservation rules for oversized baggage do not apply to the Hokuriku Shinkansen. Please check with the train you will be using for storage space for each car type and seat. JR Official Baggage Information

Last departures, flight delays and winter travel

Last bus departing from the airport

The official table for October 1-24, 2026 is not a separate fixed timetable for each day of the week, but a connecting table for flights operating on those days. The last buses to Kanazawa and Komatsu Station are both timed to connect with JAL193 scheduled to arrive at 21:45.

Buses connecting with domestic flights leave about 15 minutes after the flight arrives. Around 22:00 is therefore an estimate if JAL193 arrives on schedule; it is not a fixed last departure or a guaranteed connection.

The timetable for Kanazawa indicates ‘Use other connecting buses’ for some international routes. Don't assume that there is a separate bus for the Incheon Korean Air KE2189 arrival flight, but look at the domestic connecting bus that can actually be used after entering the country and picking up your luggage.

The bus may be canceled due to flight cancellation, or may not be available due to major delays or full seats. Unlimited delayed waiting has not been confirmed.

The Komatsu Station timetable also allows about 15 minutes after flight arrival; for substantial delays, passengers are directed to the next bus. The autonomous services leave at fixed times—09:05, 10:05, 11:20, 14:05 and 16:05—and do not wait for flights in the same way. A different vehicle may operate these services.

The last train bound for Kanazawa from Komatsu Station

The last of the current IR tables is 23:23 departure → 23:56 arrival in Kanazawa, JR Shinkansen upbound 23:14 → 23:25. Just because you took the last airport bus does not guarantee a train connection. Calculate airport departure delays, bus arrival, ticket purchase, and ticket gate movements together, and check the same-day operation information.

Last section from Kanazawa Station to the accommodation

The last loop buses leave east-side stop 7 at 18:00 clockwise and 17:58 anticlockwise, under the timetable revised on 1 April 2026. These times do not apply to all city buses. For other routes, search the operator’s journey planner using 金沢駅東口 (Kanazawa Station East Exit), 香林坊 (Korinbo) or 片町 (Katamachi), and your travel date. For a late arrival, compare the appropriate Korinbo extension, a station taxi and the walk to your hotel.

If you missed the bus or changed due to snow or wind

Show your accommodation address at the official taxi stand outside the terminal or contact the advance booking agency. The reserved taxi pick-up area is separate from the regular taxi queue. The October 2024 example in the airport's official taxi guide is about 10 minutes to Komatsu Station for 2,200 yen, and about 60 minutes to Kanazawa Station for 14,400 yen, excluding highway tolls. Instead of using the fixed amount for 2026, please inquire about the current rate, night surcharge, toll, and waiting fee when making a reservation.

For a pre-booked vehicle, confirm your arrival flight, how to report a delay, the pickup point, passenger and suitcase numbers, and cancellation terms. Rental-car customers use the first-floor counter and the branch’s shuttle before collecting the car. Confirm the branch’s final collection time and delay arrangements.

Reserved vehicles or taxis do not guarantee late delivery. Please let the property know your expected check-in time.

Check the airport, Hokuriku Railroad buses, IR Ishikawa Railway and JR West’s Hokuriku Shinkansen notices separately. Weather forecasts do not establish a suspension. Allow extra time for icy pavements and luggage between stops, station exits and garden entrances; compare an available taxi if a long walk is difficult. Komatsu Airport transfer FAQ

How do I get from Komatsu Airport to Kanazawa Station?

Leave the first-floor arrivals lobby and take the Hokuriku Railroad airport limousine bus from stop 1 to Kanazawa Station West Exit (金沢駅西口). Adult one-way ticket costs 1,400 yen and the ride takes approximately 40 minutes. Immigration inspection, baggage pickup, and waiting for the bus are separate.

Which side of Kanazawa Station does the airport bus use?

The airport bus arrives at Kanazawa Port Gate, the station’s west side. West-side stop 3 is for departures back to the airport. For east-side hotels or the loop bus, cross the first-floor public passage to Kenrokuen Gate on the east.

Can I go directly to Korinbo/Katamachi accommodation?

Only selected buses continue beyond Kanazawa Station to Korinbo: in the 1–24 October 2026 timetable, those connecting with ANA759 and JAL193. They drop off beside Ishikawa Fourth High School Memorial Museum, separately from airport-bound stop 6. Continue to Katamachi on foot or by taxi. During the day, change at Kanazawa to the anticlockwise loop bus from east-side stop 7.

Do I need to make a reservation for the airport bus?

The airport limousine bound for Kanazawa does not accept seat reservations. Buy a ticket at an on-site vending machine, put it in the fare box when getting off, or pay with a supported on-board payment. If it is full, you will have to use the next bus or other means of transportation. The bus to Komatsu Station is also available on-site and is different from pre-booked vehicles.

Is it possible to go to Kanazawa via Komatsu Station?

From the airport No. 3, take a bus bound for Komatsu Station (310 yen, about 12 minutes), and then transfer to the IR Ishikawa Railway regular train toward Kanazawa (580 yen, about 33 to 35 minutes) at the station. Total cost is 890 yen, one transfer, waiting time and ticket gate travel time are additional. There is no railway station inside the airport.

How are the fares and times different between regular trains and Shinkansen?

The IR local train costs 580 yen and takes about 33–35 minutes, with no extra express charge or seat reservation. The Hokuriku Shinkansen takes about 11–12 minutes and costs 1,390 yen for a non-reserved seat: 510 yen basic fare plus 880 yen express charge. Add the 310 yen airport bus. A reserved Tsurugi 16 search for 5 October 2026 showed 2,710 yen before the bus; reserved fares vary by date. Choose a train stopping at Komatsu and the appropriate seat type.

Can I use it with a large suitcase?

The limousine bound for Kanazawa has a trunk, but due to space and size, large luggage may be refused and you must load and unload it yourself. Please do not assume that the same trunk is available for Komatsu Station and city buses. For IR regular trains, the standard is for two carry-on items, each measuring no more than 250 cm in combined height, width and depth and weighing no more than 30 kg, and a length of less than 2m. For Shinkansen, JR baggage rules are checked separately.

How do I get from Kanazawa Station to Kenrokuen/Kanazawa Castle?

At east-side stop 7, take the clockwise loop bus (RL) to Kenrokuenshita / Kanazawa Castle, opposite Ishikawa Gate: about 18 minutes and 220 yen. Walk to Renchimon Gate and its ticket office for Kenrokuen, or Ishikawa Gate for the castle. The map marks the entrance rather than the garden’s centre. Check luggage storage before sightseeing with large bags.

Where should I get off at Higashichaya Street?

Take the clockwise loop bus (RL) from east-side stop 7 to Hashibacho (Higashi/Kazuemachi Chaya District): about 12 minutes and 220 yen. Do not confuse it with the following Hashibacho stop in front of Kinjoro. Use Higashi Chaya Rest House, 1-3-8 Kannonmachi, as an entrance-area walking reference.

What if my flight is late and I miss the last bus?

The last bus for both destinations from October 1 to 24, 2026 is the service connecting with flight JAL193, scheduled to arrive at 21:45. Since buses connecting with domestic flights depart approximately 15 minutes after arrival, approximately 22:00 is a reference value and is not a fixed last bus time. It may not be available in the event of major delays or cancellations. The last IR departure from Komatsu Station to Kanazawa is at 23:23, and the Shinkansen is at 23:14, so please double-check your connections. When the bus ends, check for an available taxi at the official stand outside the terminal or contact your pre-booked operator.

Where can I check winter driving conditions?

Check the airport, Hokuriku Railroad buses, IR Ishikawa Railway and JR West’s Hokuriku Shinkansen notices separately. Snow, wind or rain forecasts do not establish that every service is suspended. Allow for ice and luggage on the final walk, and ask about taxi availability if transport is disrupted.

Official sources and confirmation dates

The sources below were checked on 2026-10-05. Bus times cover 1–24 October; IR information follows the 14 March revision, and loop-bus information the 1 April revision. Check the operator’s latest notices for disruptions and later timetables.
