Narita Airport to Tokyo: Tokyo Station, Ueno and Shinjuku

For a hotel near Tokyo Station, compare Narita Express (N’EX) with a Tokyo Station bus. For Ueno or Nippori, Skyliner offers a direct reserved-seat train.

Check the walk or transfer from the arrival station to your hotel too. A cheaper airport journey may involve another train or a longer walk with luggage.

From your arrival station or stop to your hotel

Tokyo Station and Ginza: check which side you arrive on

Take N’EX from the airport’s JR station on basement level 1 to Tokyo Station. It arrives at the Sobu Line platforms on basement level 5. Go through the basement-level-4 concourse and follow exit signs. Check whether your hotel is on the Marunouchi · 丸の内 or Yaesu · 八重洲 side before crossing the station. The JR floor map shows lifts and exits. JR official station map, exits and lifts

For TYO-NRT, go from the terminal to its dedicated bus stop and get off at Tokyo Station’s Nihombashi Exit · 日本橋口. Do not confuse it with the Yaesu South bus stop for buses to the airport.

For Ginza, choose a bus serving Ginza or compare an onward train or taxi. For a hotel near Higashi-ginza Station · 東銀座駅, a through Access Express service is another option.

Ueno: Skyliner arrival station is Keisei Ueno

Nippori: JR is a separate onward journey

Shinjuku: west side, south side or Kabukicho

Take an N’EX service calling at Shinjuku and board the carriage assigned to your seat; coupled carriages can have different destinations. For a limousine bus, choose the actual West Exit, bus-terminal or hotel stop, then walk to your hotel.

Shinjuku Station West Exit · 新宿駅西口 and Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal · バスタ新宿 are separate drop-off points. For Kabukicho · 歌舞伎町, compare the separate Tokyu Kabukicho Tower · 東急歌舞伎町タワー route. The last West Exit bus time below does not apply to that route.

Shibuya: the train and bus have different arrival points

Choose an N’EX service calling at Shibuya. Shibuya Scramble Square · 渋谷スクランブルスクエア connects with the station and subway exit B6. From JR, follow building signs; B6 is not necessarily beside your platform.

Choose the limousine stop nearest your hotel: Shibuya Fukuras · 渋谷フクラス, Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel · セルリアンタワー東急ホテル or Shibuya Mark City · 渋谷マークシティ. Check hills and crossings on the final walk.

The last Skyliner reaches Nippori at 23:43 and Keisei Ueno at 23:48. Check onward trains separately. Regular Keisei trains have route-specific last departures, which are not all listed here. JR Saturday and holiday timetable

The total cost of the TYO-NRT late-night service is 3,000 yen. Payment must be made with cash or transportation IC on the vehicle. Credit cards are not accepted. The last bus arrival at Tokyo Station is listed as 00:38 the next day. At this time, do not assume that you can reach Shinjuku and Shibuya by train.

If a flight delay makes you miss your reserved train or bus

  • N’EX: check change and cancellation conditions before your booked departure. JR says a passenger who misses the assigned train may use a vacant ordinary-class seat on a later train that day, but a new reserved seat is not guaranteed. Give up the seat when its reservation holder boards. Third-party tickets and discount products may have additional issuing conditions.
  • Skyliner: regular liner tickets allow one free change before departure, subject to seats being available. Third-party exchange vouchers can have different refund and date-change rules. Ask the seller before exchange, or Keisei after exchange.
  • Limousine: the official website’s change deadline of 5 minutes before departure is separate from a seller’s purchase-cancellation or voucher-activation rules. Contact the booking channel before departure if delayed. A missed reservation does not automatically let you board the next bus.
  • TYO-NRT does not currently accept advance reservations. Buy a departure-specific ticket at the airport. A limousine voucher does not cover this bus.

If you have a lot of luggage or arrive late alone

TYO-NRT’s checked baggage is limited to one suitcase per person. You cannot reserve seats and suitcase space on regular trains, so if you have several large pieces of luggage, compare the baggage allowances for reserved seat trains or buses. N’EX luggage spaces are first come, first served and cannot be reserved separately.

If transport has finished or your hotel’s check-in deadline has passed, compare official airport taxi stands, pre-booked pickups, and hotels near the airport. Taxi fares vary depending on destination, tolls, and late-night surcharges.

Show your hotel address and ask for the estimated total taxi fare. For an overnight airport wait, first check your terminal’s opening hours and permitted areas. Tell your hotel about your delay and expected check-in time.

At night, use official stands and staffed counters to confirm a reserved vehicle and its destination. Save the final walking route. With heavy luggage, compare transport reaching your hotel entrance.

Official tickets and reservations

Buy the ticket for your destination: N’EX for Tokyo Station or a train serving Shinjuku and Shibuya; Skyliner for Nippori or Keisei Ueno; TYO-NRT for the bus route shown on the ticket. N’EX requires both a basic-fare ticket and a reserved-seat limited-express ticket. The 5,200-yen N’EX round-trip ticket is valid for 14 days and requires an original passport issued outside Japan.

Narita Airport to Tokyo FAQs

What can I take to get from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station?

N’EX is a direct reserved-seat train to Tokyo Station, costing 3,140 yen per adult in ordinary class. TYO-NRT’s regular bus costs 1,500 yen and arrives near Nihombashi Exit. Its late-night fare is 3,000 yen. Compare the arrival point and final walk to your hotel.

Is the Skyliner good for going from Narita to Ueno and Nippori?

Skyliner runs directly to Nippori and Keisei Ueno with reserved seats. The regular one-way fare is 2,580 yen; the shortest Terminal 2·3–Nippori ride is 36 minutes. For a lower fare, compare regular Keisei Main Line trains, which have no seat reservations.

Can I go directly from Narita to Shinjuku and Shibuya?

Choose an N’EX service listed as stopping at Shibuya or Shinjuku for a direct reserved-seat journey. The adult one-way ordinary-class fare is 3,330 yen. Limousine buses also serve these areas, but each station or hotel has its own stop and last departure; match the stop to your hotel.

Where can I board the Skyliner or N’EX in Terminal 3?

Terminal 3 has no railway station. Walk or take the free shuttle to Terminal 2, then descend to Narita Airport Terminal 2·3 Station on basement level 1. The shuttle ride is about 3 minutes, with waiting and the station walk extra.

What time are the last trains and buses from Narita Airport?

The timetable checked on 4 October 2026 gives last N’EX departures of 21:44 from Terminal 1 and 21:47 from Terminal 2, and Skyliner departures of 23:00 and 23:03. The last Tokyo Station TYO-NRT bus leaves Terminals 3/2/1 at 23:20/23:25/23:30. Recheck your date and onward connections. Allow arrivals procedures, baggage and the walk to the boarding point before deciding whether you can catch one.

If my flight is delayed and I miss my reserved transportation, can I change it for free?

Change rules depend on the ticket. JR East’s ordinary N’EX guidance allows vacant ordinary-class seats on later trains the same day after a missed departure, without guaranteeing a new reserved seat. Skyliner and limousine exchange tickets have separate seller and activation conditions. Check your booking or ask the ticket counter before departure.

Is TYO-NRT the same service as the limousine bus?

No. TYO-NRT and the destination-specific limousine bus are separate services with different tickets, stops and fares. The 1,500-yen regular fare in this guide is for TYO-NRT. Select Narita Airport as the departure point and confirm the actual destination stop on the operator’s purchase page.
