From arrival hall at Kyushu Saga International Airport to boarding the bus

  1. Come out to the arrival hall on the 1st floor. For international flights, after completing immigration, baggage collection, and customs, you will exit to the international lobby. Don't think of it as an exit like a domestic flight lobby.
  2. Prepare your payment method. No need to buy tickets in advance at the airport, just pay when you get off. Have some change ready for cash, and check the balance on your transport IC card. Direct in-vehicle payment using regular credit cards has not been confirmed.
  3. Direct buses connecting with international flights use stop 2 outside international arrivals. Semi-express buses use stop 1 outside domestic arrivals. Neither bus serves the other’s boarding stop, so check the 直行 (direct) or 準急 (semi-express) sign and destination.
  4. Take the bus bound for ‘佐賀駅バスセンター’. The destination number for the city is number 1, distinguish it from number 7 for the return trip to the airport. The bus stop number and destination number are also different information.
  5. Board through the rear door. Cash passengers take a numbered ticket (整理券); transport IC users tap the boarding reader. Pay when leaving through the front door.
  6. Press the stop button after the announcement. For Museum-mae or Prefectural Office-mae, confirm that you are on a semi-express. Once stopped, put the numbered ticket and fare in the front fare box, or tap the exit reader.

The bus cannot change 2,000, 5,000 or 10,000 yen notes. Confirm large-luggage size, quantity and storage with Saga City Bus on +81-952-23-3155. Step-free access depends on the vehicle; ask the operator if you need assistance.

How to get to JR station and accommodation from Saga Station Bus Center

Saga Station · 佐賀駅 and Saga Station Bus Center · 佐賀駅バスセンター are neighbouring facilities with separate platforms. Airport buses arrive at the bus centre beneath the elevated tracks east of the station, rather than the south station square.

  1. After getting off at the bus center, look for the direction ‘佐賀駅 / JR’ and move west.
  2. Walk west across the pedestrian crossing, past Ekimachi 1-Chome Saga’s east building · えきマチ1丁目佐賀 and into the station’s central passage. The operator gives roughly 100 m between the station and bus centre.
  3. For a train, check your basic-fare ticket, any limited-express ticket and the platform display before entering the gates. Lifts to the platforms appear on the JR station map. Confirm the complete route from your bus bay if you need step-free access.
  4. For south-side hotels, use Saga Castle Exit · 佐賀城口. For north-side hotels, use Sunrise Exit · サンライズ口. Choose the exit from your hotel’s address, not just the description “near Saga Station”.

Stop number 1 at the bus center is where you go when taking the bus to the airport. This does not mean that the arriving bus will always drop off at number 1.

Saga Castle History Museum: direct and semi-express buses serve different stops

For Saga Castle History Museum · 佐賀城本丸歴史館, a semi-express lets you get off at Museum-mae. A direct international-arrival bus requires a change at the station bus centre. Neither airport bus enters the museum grounds.

In front of domestic terminal → In front of museum → History museum

Take a semi-express from stop 1 towards Saga Station Bus Center and get off at 博物館前 (Museum-mae): about 16 minutes and 550 yen. Walk east towards Saga Castle’s Honmaru area and follow the museum entrance signs. Use the crossings shown in the walking map.

In front of the museum → Walking directions to the history museum ↗

Direct bus connecting with international arrivals → Station Bus Center → Saga Castle Site

② Take a direct bus from the bus stop to the bus center, then transfer to bus stop number 3, bound for destination number 6, ‘佐賀城跡’. Get off at Saga Castle Ruins and go to the entrance of the history museum.

This route is registered in the official access guide to the history museum. In addition to the 600 yen for the airport bus, city bus fare, waiting, and walking time after getting off are additional.

Not all buses from bus stop 3 go to Saga Castle Ruins. If you take number 25 bound for Wasaki, the route will change to the route in front of the museum as indicated in the official guide.

If you go around Saga Prefectural Office, check the bus stop in front of the prefectural office.

For Saga Prefectural Government · 佐賀県庁, get off the semi-express at 佐賀県庁前 (Prefectural Office-mae). The airport ride takes about 20 minutes and costs 570 yen; the office’s guide gives about one minute on foot from the stop.

From the bus drop-off point, move toward the southern government building, but there are stops with names in front of the prefectural office in several directions, so check the crosswalk and the map below.

The direct international-arrival bus does not stop at the prefectural office. At the bus centre, use bay 3 and check route 2 towards Prefectural Office-mae/Saga Shrine or another service that stops at the office. Hotels nearby have separate addresses; check the final walk to your hotel.

Last buses and flight delays at Kyushu Saga International Airport: See airport departure table

The last bus to Saga Station Bus Center is marked as departing the airport at 21:45 → arriving at 22:20 every day. The current timetables for October 1-24, 2026 and the following October 25-March 27, 2027 timetables are all the same. Do not confuse this with the 20:55 departure from the city to the airport.

  • During 1–24 October, direct buses connecting with Seoul arrivals leave at 10:25 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Those connecting with Taipei arrivals leave at 11:20 on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The final domestic-flight semi-express is not the last direct international-arrival bus.
  • In the winter timetable, the Seoul-arrival direct bus leaves at 10:35 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and daily during 7 January–27 February 2027. Taipei-arrival buses leave at 11:50 Tuesday, 12:00 Thursday and 11:10 Sunday. Use the timetable for your date and day of the week.
  • The 18:00 departure from the airport is a weekday test service that does not connect to any flights. It does not operate on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, and the winter ticket also excludes December 29 to January 3.

According to official information, the departure of flight connecting buses will be delayed if the arrival of the relevant flight is late. Domestic flights may depart approximately 15 to 20 minutes after arrival, and international flights may depart later than scheduled, depending on immigration procedures. This is not an indefinite waiting service for personal shopping or currency exchange, so check the boarding area first when you come out of the lobby.

It is not a condition that guarantees full capacity, service suspension, or transfer failure.

Once the service is over, use the official taxi stand outside the first floor or notify the taxi company you reserved your arrival flight number and change time. Check the check-in time and address of the accommodation, and compare whether to take a taxi to the accommodation if it is a long walk after getting off at the station.

Don’t assume the airport has hotels or plan to spend the night in the terminal.

Kyushu Saga International Airport taxis and reserved vehicles: distinguish from flat-rate services to the city

Regular taxis can be taken at ‘タクシーのりば’ outside the terminal on the first floor. The airport's official estimate is that it will take about 30 minutes to Saga Station and about 4,000 yen. It is an estimate, not a fixed-rate commitment, and the official notation does not specify whether late-night surcharges, waiting, and tolls are included.

Inquire about total terms by providing your accommodation address and arrival time, and also confirm the payment method and number of large suitcases when picking up the vehicle.

For a pre-booked vehicle, give the company your HSG flight number, destination and contact number. Get the quote, cancellation terms and delay waiting limit in writing. A fixed-fare Saga-city-only reservation product has not been confirmed here.

Check your reservation confirmation and the airport information center for the meeting location for your driver.

The reservation-based shared limousine taxi provided by the airport is a service connecting other areas. As Saga City, Saga Station and Hakata are not on the official region list, you should not book for accommodation within the city. Please refer to the separate items below for conditions such as Takeo and Ureshino.

Airport official taxi expected/approach information ↗ · Taxi stand grounds ↗

Rental cars are picked up on the east side of the terminal

Go to the rental car terminal (レンタカーターミナル) on the east side of the terminal outside the arrival hall and find the counter of the company you reserved. The official airport information contains contact information for Toyota, Nippon, Orix, Nissan, Avis/Budget, and Times. Each company has different pickup locations, business hours, and late arrival response, so check with the reservation screen or airport counter.

  1. When making a reservation, please match the HSG arrival flight number, pick-up time, number of luggage, and vehicle size.
  2. At the counter, show your passport, driving documents accepted in Japan and the required payment method. Confirm insurance before collecting the vehicle. The rental company must verify your eligibility to drive.
  3. Please enter the hotel parking lot address or the history museum parking lot instead of ‘Saga City’ as the downtown destination. The actual route from the airport north to downtown will follow your car's navigation and road directions for the day.
  4. Please check the accommodation parking fee, vehicle height, return location, and fuel conditions separately. Airport bus fares and rental car platform prices are different costs.

The airport’s roughly 30-minute driving estimate to the station excludes rental paperwork, vehicle inspection and parking. Conditional campaign prices are not ordinary fares for all travellers.

Please divide the itinerary to Fukuoka and hot springs with the trip to Saga city.

Fukuoka · Hakata: Compare in the following order: Airport Bus → Station Bus Center → JR Saga Station → Hakata Station · 博多駅. JR tickets and limited express tickets must be purchased separately and the last train for each day must be confirmed at JR Kyushu. If you're going to Hakata, check out the route to transfer to the JR train at Saga Station.

It has not been confirmed whether the direct bus to Hakata departing from the airport is currently in operation.

The shared limousine taxi serves designated points at Takeo-Onsen Station · 武雄温泉駅 South Exit, the Takeo hot-spring district and Ureshino Onsen · 嬉野温泉. Regular services to either area cost 4,000 yen per person and take about 60 minutes. The early service connecting with ANA452 costs 4,800 yen.

The fare unit is different from the approximately 4,000 yen per vehicle for taxis to Saga Station.

Limousine taxis are for aircraft users only, can accommodate up to one large trunk, and in principle are paid in cash. Internet reservations must be made by 16:00 2 days in advance, telephone reservations must be made by 16:00 the day before, and ANA451 and 452 phone reservations must be made by 16:00 2 days in advance.

Register the flight you will actually use. After arrival, the vehicle leaves once the booked passengers have assembled. Contact the assigned operator in advance about delays, cancellations or booking changes. Natural disasters and alternative flights may prevent service; confirm cancellation charges for your booking.

Getting around the city from Kyushu Saga International Airport, Frequently asked questions

How do I get from Saga Airport to Saga Station?

Leave the arrival hall on the 1st floor and take the bus bound for Saga Station Bus Center. For a direct bus connecting with international arrivals, it takes about 30 minutes from platform ② in front of the international lobby, and for a semi-express bus connecting with domestic flights, it takes about 35 minutes from platform ① in front of the domestic flight lobby. Adult one-way fare is 600 yen. From the bus center, go west, pass the crosswalk and east wing of the station, and go to the JR ticket gate. Entry, baggage, waiting, and walking times are separate.

Do I need to make a reservation for the airport bus?

Seat reservations are not required. However, if the bus is full, additional buses may not always be added, so you may have to use the next bus or taxi. The advance reservation system limousine taxi is a different service from this bus.

Where are Saga Station and Saga Station Bus Center?

The bus center is located under the east overpass of JR Saga Station. Official information is about 100m east from the JR ticket gate, past the Ekimachi 1-chome Saga East Building and the crosswalk. Separate the bus center's platform number 1 for buses bound for the airport from the drop-off area for buses arriving from the airport.

How do I get from Saga Airport to Saga Castle History Museum?

The semi-express from domestic-side stop 1 calls at Hakubutsukan-mae, about 16 minutes and 550 yen, followed by a walk to the museum. The non-stop international-arrival bus from stop 2 goes to Saga Station Bus Center first. There, change at bay 3 to route 6 for Saga Castle Ruins, or take a taxi.

How do I pay the bus fare?

When getting off, pay with cash or a nationwide transport IC card such as nimoca, Suica, or PASMO. Cash users receive a numbered ticket when getting on and insert the numbered ticket and fare when getting off. Transport IC cards are tagged both when boarding and getting off. Direct credit card payment is not confirmed, so prepare cash or a loaded transport IC card.

Can I take the bus with a large suitcase?

The allowable size and number of large suitcases and separate trunk guarantee have not been confirmed in this official data. Please call the Saga City Bus +81-952-23-3155 to inquire about the size and number of bags, and ask the driver about the loading location before boarding. It is a good idea to compare it to a taxi by considering whether you can get in and out of the car by yourself without blocking the aisle.

What if my flight is late and I miss the last bus?

Both the 1–24 October 2026 and 25 October–27 March 2027 timetables list the last semi-express departure as 21:45 daily. Flight-linked buses can adjust for their connecting flight, but unlimited waiting for every passenger is not guaranteed. Check the stop after arrivals; if service has ended, compare the first-floor official taxi stand or a confirmed pickup.

How do I get from the airport to Fukuoka?

Take the 600 yen airport bus to Saga Station Bus Center, walk to JR Saga Station and compare trains towards Hakata. JR basic and limited-express fares are separate, as are transfer and waiting time. A currently operating direct airport bus to Fukuoka/Hakata has not been confirmed.

Where can I check the bus operation status on the day?

Check Saga City Bus operation notices and Saga Airport notices. For airport buses, you must also look at the official PDF timetable appropriate for your travel date. If you are transferring to a train, please additionally check the JR Kyushu operation information, and do not judge flight cancellations or suspensions based on old timetables or missing bus location indicators in search results.
