Shizuoka Airport to Shizuoka, Shimada and Kakegawa

For Shizuoka Station hotels, take the direct bus from airport stop 3. For Shimada Station, use stop 2. Kakegawa has a paid shuttle taxi, or a bus-and-JR route via Kanaya. The airport has no railway station, and the former free FDA bus has ended.

First check which station your accommodation is near

Shizuoka Station · 静岡駅, Shimada Station · 島田駅, Kakegawa Station · 掛川駅 are located in different cities. Just because the airport name has “Shizuoka” in it, doesn’t mean that all hotels are located near Shizuoka Station.

Check the address of the accommodation you booked and the nearest station, then select your destination.

The former FDA free shuttle was restricted to eligible airline passengers and has ended. Current local buses and the paid Kakegawa shuttle taxi are separate services. The taxi’s booking requirements differ by direction.

The times below are from after getting into the vehicle. International immigration, baggage pickup, transfer to the boarding area, waiting for the next service, JR transfer, and walking to the accommodation must be added separately. Bus and shuttle taxi times are estimates from the official current timetable and vary depending on traffic conditions.

In the airport introduction, the time to Shizuoka Station is described as “approximately 50 minutes,” but the current operator’s timetable is 57 minutes to the station and 60 minutes to Shin-Shizuoka. Use the timetable's estimated arrival time to plan your transfers. JR fares and Shinkansen fares via Kanaya are not included in the above bus fares. Move in the following order: Arrival hall → Boarding hall → Station → Accommodation

  1. After going to the arrival hall on the 1st floor, collect your luggage and prepare the Japanese address and reservation screen of your accommodation.
  2. Outside the terminal, use stop 1 for Fujieda, stop 2 for Shimada or Kanaya, and stop 3 for Shizuoka or Shin-Shizuoka. At stop 2, check 島田駅 or 金谷駅 on the vehicle; sharing a stop does not mean sharing a destination.
  3. Kakegawa Shuttle Taxi: Instead of lining up at the bus stop, register on the same day at the general information center on the 1st floor. Please check dispatch and actual meeting location at the information center. The shuttle taxi's fixed boarding bay number was not confirmed and was not used.
  4. Check the payment method for the route and board. After getting off the bus, pack your luggage and go to the exit near your accommodation, or prepare a separate JR ticket.

Transportation cards and credit cards vary depending on the route.

For trips to Shizuoka and Shimada, cash and eligible IC transport IC cards are accepted. Credit card touch payment was introduced on the Shizuoka Airport Line from March 23, 2026. When using the bus, tap the same card or device to the green terminal when boarding and the yellow terminal when getting off.

This guidance should not be applied to both Shimada and Fujieda.

For Kanaya, the airport lists cash, IC, QR and credit-card payments. Kakegawa shuttle taxis accept cash or PayPay. Check supported card brands and readers on your vehicle. For Fujieda, carry cash because the full range of cashless payment options is not confirmed.

Shizuoka Station/Shin-Shizuoka direction: Platform 3

Shin-Shizuoka Station · 新静岡駅

  1. Go out of the arrival hall and go to platform 3.
  2. Check the destination and get on the bus. Boarding is on a first-come, first-served basis without seat reservations, and you cannot board if all seats are full. Wear your seat belt on highway sections.
  3. For JR/Shinkansen connections or station hotels, get off north of Shizuoka Station. For a hotel near Shin-Shizuoka, stay on the bus to the terminus.
  4. For hotels in the north, check the address in front of the station and walk, and for hotels in the south, check the route leading to the opposite exit on the station map. Avoid going through the Shinkansen ticket gate and finding the exit toward your accommodation.

The adult fare is 1,200 yen. Riding time is 57 minutes to Shizuoka Station and 60 minutes to Shin-Shizuoka. For the return journey, use Shizuoka Station north-side stop 14 or Shin-Shizuoka stop 6. The last airport-bound departure from Shizuoka Station is currently 15:15, changing to 15:55 from 25 October.

Do not confuse the last bus to the city with the last bus in the opposite direction.

Shizuoka Station is served by the Tokaido Main Line and the Tokaido Shinkansen. On JR Tokai's basic Shinkansen timetable, the Kodama and some Hikari stops at Shizuoka Station, but the Nozomi does not. Check the train type, stopping station, fare, and reserved seats based on the date of visit, and avoid taking a train that is immediately following the bus's scheduled arrival time. You can't ride the Shinkansen with the bus fare. Toward Shimada Station: Bus service ends early

  1. At the airport platform number 2, check for vehicles heading to Shimada Station. Separate from vehicles bound for Kanaya.
  2. Current regular buses depart from the airport at 10:40 and 13:00. Adults 600 yen, arrives south of Shimada Station in 25 minutes.
  3. For accommodation on the south side of the station, check the address after getting off, and for accommodation on the north side, use the station map and on-site information to find the opposite exit. Check the walking route from the exit to your accommodation using the actual address you booked.

From October 25th, airport departure will change to 10:20 and 12:00. If the regular bus doesn't work for you, compare taking a bus to Kanaya Station and transferring to the JR Tokaido Main Line. Shimada Station is not a Shinkansen station. If you need the Shinkansen, you must travel separately to a stopping station such as Shizuoka Station or Kakegawa Station.

The airport’s 15:20 Kanaya service uses a nine-seat jumbo taxi and continues via Kanaya to Shimada Station South, arriving at 15:53 for 870 yen. This differs from the regular direct Shimada bus at 600 yen and 25 minutes. Confirm passenger and luggage capacity with the operator.

When returning, the regular bus is at bus stop 4 south of Shimada Station. Currently, departure times to the airport are 11:30·16:00, and from October 25th, 11:10·15:00. Kakegawa Station: Paid shuttle taxi or transfer to Kanaya Station

The FDA free shuttle bus is currently not in operation. It completed operation on October 25, 2025. Don't just use the free bus schedule or 1,500 yen shuttle taxi fare from an old travel article. Currently, the shuttle taxi costs 1,700 yen per person one way. Airport’s 2026 Transportation Guide ↗ Airport traffic information for 2026 ↗

If you have a lot of luggage, compare shuttle taxis without transfers first.

  1. After arriving at the airport, same-day applications for Kakegawa Station are accepted at the general information center on the 1st floor. Convey the number of people and luggage and confirm the departure time, vehicle availability, and meeting location.
  2. Current airport departures are 09:50, 11:50, 13:00, 13:55, 15:55, 16:55, 17:55, 20:45, and on-board journey time is 35 minutes.
  3. Get off at the south side of Kakegawa Station and go to your accommodation, or transfer to JR within the station. When going to the north accommodation or downtown, first check the exit route on the station map.

When returning, a reservation is required two days in advance

Kakegawa Station → Airport reservations must be made at least two days prior to the boarding date. Call 0537-22-3610 from 10:00 to 16:00, and web application deadline is 24:00 two days before. It does not operate without a reservation, and you cannot get on or off it at points other than the airport or Kakegawa Station. 0537-22-3610

Arrive at the shuttle taxi stand on the south side of the station at least 5 minutes before your reservation time.

In case of cancellation or late reservation, please contact the operator at 0537-22-3231. Please note that cancellations are not accepted via email. How to transfer to JR at Kanaya Station

Kanaya Station · 金谷駅

  1. At airport stop 2, take the bus displaying 金谷駅 (Kanaya Station): 500 yen per adult and about 15 minutes on board.
  2. Check the trains bound for Kakegawa and Hamamatsu on the JR Tokaido Main Line from Kanaya Station. The Oigawa Railway at the same station is different from the JR line that goes to Kakegawa.
  3. Check the JR ticket and fare separately and proceed to Kakegawa Station. In JR Tokai's basic Shinkansen timetable, Kakegawa Station is the Kodama stop and is not a station directly connected to Hikari or Nozomi. If you continue by Shinkansen, transfer again at Kakegawa Station.
  4. At Kakegawa Station, select the north or south exit where your accommodation is located and check the walking route after getting off.

Search JR for your date’s train, fare and transfer time. The 15-minute airport bus to Kanaya is only the first part of a Kakegawa journey. A Shinkansen ride needs the basic fare and limited-express ticket. Use the station maps and timetable links for Kanaya, Kakegawa and the walk between Kakegawa’s exits. If you are staying in Fujieda, stop no. 1

Fujieda Station · 藤枝駅

From Airport Bus Stop No. 1, take the bus bound for 藤枝駅南口 and get off at the south side of the station. Adult one-way fare is 500 yen, usually 40 minutes, and departure from the airport at 17:30 on weekdays is 50 minutes. The same 17:30 departure is also 40 minutes long on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, so check the estimated arrival time by day of the week. When returning home, take platform number 6 on the south side of the station. After arriving at the station, check the walking route to your accommodation using the actual address. Allow immigration, baggage collection and check-in at the stop or information centre before relying on the last service. Some departures may adjust to flights, but unlimited waiting is not guaranteed.

The final connection for the JR after arriving at Kanaya Station and the Shinkansen after arriving at Kakegawa/Shizuoka Station must be confirmed in separate train timetables. Don't think of the last bus and the last train as the same.

The JR Shizuoka and Kakegawa timetable pages showed a maintenance notice when the source was checked, so the last connecting trains remain unconfirmed. A basic Shinkansen timetable does not include every additional service; search the full timetable for your date.

Once the trip is over, inquire about transportation by informing the general taxi stand or reservation company of the destination, number of people, and number of luggage. It is a good idea to communicate your expected arrival time to your accommodation, and if you arrive late alone, decide on a means of transportation from the station to the last section of your accommodation instead of a long walk. Check airport bus/railway operation status and airplane status separately. For taxis, distinguish between meter fare and reservation flat rate.

For an ordinary taxi, cross the first pedestrian crossing outside the terminal and use the official taxi stand on the right in the shared taxi/private-car lane. Show your hotel’s Japanese address and confirm passengers, luggage, payment and estimated total. For a booked vehicle, follow the meeting point in the confirmation.

The reference price for regular taxis released by the airport is 3,300 yen for Kanaya Station, 4,200 yen for Shimada Station, 6,400 yen for Fujieda Station, and 8,100 yen for Kakegawa Station. This is a reference price per vehicle and not a fixed price.

Actual meter fares vary depending on driving conditions. The Taxi Association announces a 20% surcharge on the regular meter fare between 22:00 and 05:00 late at night and early in the morning, so check the company's conditions before departure.

The airport information revised 25 November 2025 lists a reserved flat-rate taxi of 11,500 yen plus tolls for eligible districts, including parts of the Shizuoka Station area. Check the covered address, exclusions and participating company. This rate does not apply to every hotel in the prefecture; ask which night conditions apply rather than adding a presumed surcharge. Official transportation usage and reservation information

You can check the operator’s official usage and reservation information at the link below. For regular buses bound for Shizuoka, Shimada, and Kanaya, check the payment method before boarding, and for Kakegawa shuttle taxis, check the reception/reservation conditions for each direction of travel.

Regular bus and JR tickets are separate. Rail passes do not automatically include buses and shuttle taxis, so check the eligible sections. If you miss your booked transportation due to a flight delay, you must check with the relevant operating company for changes, cancellations, and contact conditions.

Shizuoka Airport transfer, frequently asked questions

Is it close to the Mt. Fuji tourist site from Shizuoka Airport?

The airport is in Makinohara, rather than at Mount Fuji. This guide covers Shizuoka, Shimada and Kakegawa stations and nearby hotels. For Mount Fuji, first choose a destination such as Kawaguchiko, Fujinomiya or a climbing trailhead, then check the separate route and operating dates.

How do I get from Shizuoka Airport to Shizuoka Station?

You can take a bus bound for Shizuoka Station or Shin-Shizuoka at bus stop 3 at the airport. It costs 1,200 yen one way for adults to the north of Shizuoka Station, and the ride takes 57 minutes according to the current timetable. Immigration, baggage collection, waiting for the bus, and walking to the accommodation must be added separately.

Is there a train station or Shinkansen station at Shizuoka Airport?

There is no rail station in the airport terminal. You will need to take a bus or taxi to the station. Shizuoka Station and Kakegawa Station are connected to the Tokaido Shinkansen, and Shimada Station and Kanaya Station are stations on the Tokaido Main Line. You cannot take the Shinkansen directly from Shimada Station.

Are there frequent buses to Shimada Station?

There are two regular bus services to Shimada Station departing from the airport at 10:40 and 13:00 in the current timetable. From October 25th, it will change to 10:20 and 12:00. Use the airport's bus stop No. 2. It costs 600 yen one way for adults and the ride takes 25 minutes. If timing is not right, compare the bus to Kanaya Station and the JR transfer.

Can I take the FDA’s free shuttle bus to Kakegawa?

No. For Kakegawa-to-airport travel, reserve at least two days before the boarding date: telephone bookings close at 16:00 and online bookings at 24:00. It does not run without reservations. Be at the station’s south-side shuttle-taxi stand at least 5 minutes before your booked time.

Can I take the Kakegawa shuttle taxi without a reservation when returning?

Shizuoka and Shimada buses list cash and supported transport IC payment. Contactless bank-card payment applies to the Shizuoka Airport Line and should not be assumed on other routes. Kanaya information lists cash, IC, QR and bank-card options. The paid Kakegawa shuttle taxi accepts cash or PayPay.

Can I ride the airport bus with a transport IC card or credit card?

Shizuoka and Shimada services accept cash and supported transport IC cards. Contactless bank-card payment on the Shizuoka Airport Line does not establish support on every route. Airport guidance lists cash, IC, QR and credit-card options for Kanaya services. The paid Kakegawa shuttle taxi accepts cash or PayPay.

What time are the last departures from Shizuoka Airport?

Until October 24th, the last scheduled departures are 20:40 for Shizuoka, 13:00 for Shimada, 19:00 for Fujieda, 20:35 for Kanaya, and 20:45 for Kakegawa Shuttle Taxi. From October 25th, the departure time for Shizuoka will be 21:10, for Shimada will be 12:00, and for Fujieda will be 19:05. Winter times for Kanaya and Kakegawa must be confirmed separately. Don't judge whether you'll board the last service based on landing time alone.

What should I do if I have a lot of luggage or my flight is late?

Confirm bus storage and shuttle-taxi availability for large luggage. The 15:20 Kanaya service uses a nine-seat vehicle, with different storage from a regular bus. After the last departure, ask the official taxi rank or your booked operator about travel to your hotel, specifying passengers and bags. Tell your hotel the revised arrival time. Flight delays do not guarantee refunds or unlimited vehicle waiting.

Official sources and verification scope

Official fares, timetables, boarding points and booking conditions were checked on 2026-10-05. Current and winter timetables have separate validity periods. Confirm unresolved JR fares and last connections, winter shuttle times and large-luggage capacity with the relevant operator.
