Journey times start when you board. Add immigration, baggage collection, waiting, rental-car collection and the walk to your hotel. Regular-bus times follow the timetable through 24 October and may increase in traffic or snow.

From arrivals to the Toyama Station bus
- Complete arrivals procedures, then follow signs to the first-floor domestic area. After an international flight, collect your luggage and clear customs first. The paid bus leaves from stop 1 outside the domestic terminal’s first floor. Follow the domestic-terminal and bus signs; an international exit number has not been confirmed.
- On direct buses, tap a supported bank card or phone once when getting off; you do not tap when boarding. Supported brands are Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners, Discover and UnionPay. This payment option does not apply to regular route 36, so prepare a suitable alternative.
- At stop 1, look for Toyama Station (富山駅前). The timetable distinguishes direct services (直行) from regular route 36 (36系統). Toyama Chiho Railway · 富山地方鉄道 operates the buses. Even the direct services stop at downtown points including Sogawa, Joshi Koen-mae and City Hall; “direct” does not mean non-stop.
- On a regular bus, board through the middle or rear door and take a numbered ticket. When getting off, check the fare display, then put the ticket and exact cash fare into the front fare box. Change a note into coins while the bus is stopped; the fare box does not give change.
- Get off at Toyama Station and collect your luggage. For JR trains, enter the station from the south plaza and follow the JR signs. For Tateyama, walk east across the plaza to the separate Dentetsu Toyama Station. For a hotel north of the station, use the public north–south passage.
The local ecomyca card and nationwide transport IC cards have different coverage. Regular buses do not accept Suica, ICOCA or PASMO. For cash payment, bring coins or 1,000 yen notes; airport buses and airport ticket machines do not accept notes of 2,000 yen or more.
If buying a ticket at the airport, choose a current ticket type. The former coupon tickets were discontinued on 1 October.
Airport buses do not have an advance seat-reservation counter. Direct services carry seated passengers only, and you cannot board if all seats are occupied. Published information does not specify guaranteed suitcase dimensions, numbers or luggage-compartment capacity. For a group or large luggage, call 076-432-3456 in advance, weekdays 08:30–17:30.

At Toyama Station: south side, north side and separate railway stations
Paid airport buses terminate at Toyama Station’s south side. Stop 6 is for departures to the airport, rather than a confirmed arrival bay. Follow the driver and local signs for the drop-off point. The separate free bus for eligible Taipei-flight passengers arrives on the north side.
- For JR trains and the Shinkansen, enter from the south plaza and follow the JR / 新幹線 signs to the correct gates. The tram platforms under the station are separate from the JR platforms.
- For a hotel south of the station, start walking directions from the bus terminal to its address. Use marked crossings over main roads. If sightseeing first, check whether your hotel can store your luggage.
- For a hotel north of the station or Kansui Park, follow the public north–south passage (南北自由通路) to the north plaza without entering the JR gates. Eligible Taipei-bus passengers already arrive on the north side.
- For Tateyama trains, walk east across the south plaza towards the Esta building and follow 電鉄富山 to the separate ticket office and gates. Check current signs for the platform; a fixed platform number or gate floor has not been confirmed.

Toyama Castle Park · 富山城址公園
Walking from the south side of the station
Walk from the south plaza towards the Matsukawa River approach on the north side of the park. Official tourism information gives about 10 minutes from the station’s south exit. Add the walk from the bus drop-off point and allow extra time for signals, luggage or snowy pavements.

Under Toyama Station, use platform 3 at Toyama-eki tram stop (富山駅) for the loop line (環状線). Get off at International Conference Center (国際会議場前): about 7 minutes on the tram, then 2 minutes on foot to the park.
After getting off, walk north to the southern access area of the park.
The adult tram fare is 240 yen. Board through the middle or rear door and pay when leaving through the front; no numbered ticket is needed. Pay exact cash or follow the reader instructions for a supported nationwide transport IC card. Tram IC coverage differs from regular-bus coverage.

For Fugan Canal Kansui Park, start from the station’s north exit. From the south-side bus terminal, use the public passage to the north plaza, then walk towards the fountain and paths at the park’s southern end. Add the walk through the park if going to the canal or Tenmon Bridge.
Current tourist information estimates it to be about 10 minutes from the north exit. The 10 minutes does not include walking time from the paid airport bus drop-off point to the north exit. Dentetsu Toyama Station · 電鉄富山駅 / Tateyama Station · 立山駅
- After arriving at the south side of Toyama Station by airport bus, walk to Dentetsu Toyama Station on the east side.
- Buy a ticket for Tateyama (立山) at the separate ticket office or machine and check the day’s departures. A JR ticket or airport-bus fare does not cover this railway journey.
- Choose a train to Tateyama. If the journey planner shows a change at Terada Station · 寺田駅, change there for Tateyama. Not every train from Dentetsu Toyama runs to Tateyama.
- Get off at Tateyama Station and transfer to the cable car following the Alpine Route ticket pickup and departure instructions. Please allow some time between arriving at the railway platform and boarding the cable car.
The 15 April–3 November connection timetable includes Dentetsu Toyama 13:00 → Tateyama 14:13 daily. Weekday 13:50 → 14:55 and holiday 14:00 → 15:13 services are the last listed rail connections reaching the 15:40 Murodo cable car, rather than the last railway departures of the whole day. Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route · 立山黒部アルペンルート / Murodo · 室堂
From Tateyama Station, take the cable car to Bijodaira · 美女平, then the highland bus to Murodo. The Alpine Route combines several modes of transport, and Murodo is an intermediate stop. There is no direct airport service to Murodo or Kurobe Dam.
The official timetable for 2026 is divided into April 15 - November 3 and November 4 - 30. Do not apply this table to December movements. In the winter timetable, the section between Tateyama Station, Ogisawa, and Shinano Omachi is scheduled to operate until November 30, and is scheduled to resume in mid-April 2027. From November 11, Kogen Bus will run non-stop between Bijodaira and Murodo and will not stop at intermediate stops. The last cable car to Murodo will be moved forward to 15:00 on November 4-10 and 13:50 on November 11-30, so the October schedule should not be applied as is. Depending on snow cover, there may be service suspensions and time changes between Tateyama Station and Murodo, so please check the winter timetable and same-day service notices. Travel to the accommodation by taxi, reserved vehicle, or rental car
Taxi and pre-booked pickup
- After completing the arrival procedures, go to taxi stand number 2 outside the first floor of the domestic terminal. Reserved vehicles will follow the meeting location indicated on the reservation.
- Show the driver your hotel’s Japanese address and state the passenger and suitcase numbers. Confirm accepted payment methods and an estimated total before setting off.
- At the hotel entrance, collect your luggage and pay as instructed by the driver or operator.
The airport’s taxi table estimates about 20 minutes to Toyama Station, while the same page’s introduction gives 15 minutes. Allow about 20 minutes before traffic delays. Rental-car counters are beside domestic arrivals on the first floor
Listed airport operators are Toyota, Nissan, Nippon Rent-a-Car and Orix. At your booked branch’s counter, present the required driving documents, reservation and payment method, then confirm insurance, winter equipment and the vehicle-collection point.
Number 4 on the airport map identifies the rental-car counters, rather than a common vehicle-collection bay for every company.
After picking up the vehicle, select the entrance to the hotel parking lot as your destination. If you are only staying downtown, it is better to compare it to buses and taxis as parking and rental car pickup time are added. - 25 October 2026–27 March 2027: the last scheduled direct bus leaves at 20:50 and reaches Toyama Station at 21:13.
- Each timetable has the same last direct-bus time on weekdays and holidays. Regular route 36 has different weekday and holiday departures. The holiday timetable also applies on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, 13–16 August and 29 December–3 January.
Direct buses check passengers about 10 minutes after their flight arrives, and departures may adjust for delays. This does not guarantee unlimited waiting or completion of international arrivals. Moving downtown from Toyama Airport, frequently asked questions
How do I get from Toyama Airport to Toyama Station?
From domestic-side first-floor stop 1, take the Toyama Chiho Railway bus to Toyama Station (富山駅前). The direct bus takes about 23 minutes; route 36 takes about 25–34 minutes. The adult one-way fare is 470 yen. Add arrivals procedures, baggage collection, waiting and walking.
Do I need to make a reservation for the airport bus?
No seat reservations are offered. Direct buses carry seated passengers only, and you cannot board when full. Check the timetable and queue at the stop. For a group or large luggage, call 076-432-3456 in advance.
How do I pay the bus fare?
On direct buses, tap a supported bank card once when getting off. This does not apply to regular route 36. Cash users on regular buses take a numbered ticket when boarding and put it with the exact fare into the box on exit. Suica, ICOCA and PASMO are not accepted on regular buses; bring coins or 1,000 yen notes.
Where do I get off at Toyama Station?
Paid airport buses arrive on the south side of Toyama Station. Stop 6 is for departures to the airport, not a confirmed arrival bay; follow the driver and local signs. The separate free bus for eligible Taipei-flight passengers arrives at the north exit.
What is the difference between JR Toyama Station and Dentetsu Toyama Station?
JR Toyama serves JR and Shinkansen trains. Tateyama-bound Toyama Chiho Railway trains leave from separate Dentetsu Toyama Station east of the south plaza. Follow 電鉄富山 to its ticket office and gates rather than entering JR. Dentetsu Toyama-Esta Mae tram stop is also separate from the Tateyama railway platform.
Can I walk from Toyama Station to Kansui Park?
Official tourism information gives about 10 minutes from the north exit to Kansui Park. From the south-side bus terminal, cross the public north–south passage first, then walk towards the fountain and paths at the park’s southern end. Add the station crossing to the 10-minute walk.
How do I get to Toyama Castle Park from the airport?
Ask the driver about getting off at Joshi Koen-mae and walk to the park. Alternatively, walk about 10 minutes from Toyama Station’s south exit. The loop tram from the station takes about 7 minutes to International Conference Center, followed by about 2 minutes on foot.
Can I take the bus with a large suitcase?
Published information does not guarantee suitcase sizes, quantities or compartment capacity. Direct and regular buses may have different storage. Ask the operator about your luggage. For a pre-booked vehicle, give passenger and suitcase numbers when requesting a quote.
What if my flight is late and I miss the last bus?
The last scheduled airport bus leaves at 20:35 through 24 October, or 20:50 from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027. Direct buses check passengers about 10 minutes after flight arrival and may adjust departure for delays; unlimited waiting is not guaranteed. After service ends, compare domestic-side first-floor taxi stand 2 or an official taxi company and tell your hotel about late check-in.
Can I go to the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route on the same day I arrive at the airport?
It depends on your date, arrivals time, reserved departure and return connection. Take the airport bus, a train from Dentetsu Toyama to Tateyama, then the cable car and highland bus to Murodo. In the 15 April–3 November timetable, the final outward connection starts at Tateyama at 15:40 and the regular final return leaves Murodo at 16:20. Those two departures cannot form a same-day round trip. Use the separate winter timetable from 4 November.
Where can I check winter transport conditions?
Check Toyama Airport’s same-day flight information, Toyama Chiho Railway’s bus, train and tram notices, and Alpine Route service updates. Snow or wind forecasts alone do not establish a suspension. Allow extra time to carry luggage and walk to your hotel.
