Yonago Airport to Yonago, Matsue and Kaike Onsen
For a hotel near Yonago Station, compare the JR train with a bus matching your arrival flight. For Matsue Station, a direct bus avoids changing trains at Yonago. Sakaiminato is in the opposite direction on the Sakai Line. For Kaike Onsen, check whether the Seoul-arrival bus operates on your date.
This guide starts at Yonago Kitaro Airport · 米子鬼太郎空港 (YGJ). Official fares and timetables were checked on 2026-10-04. All times are JST and fares are adult one-way amounts in yen. Add arrivals procedures, baggage collection and waiting to the journey times.
From international arrivals to the train or bus
- Clear immigration, collect your luggage and pass customs, then enter the first-floor arrivals lobby. Domestic and international arrivals use separate areas of the same terminal. Plan from the time you leave the lobby, rather than the aircraft’s landing time.
- For JR, follow the signs outside and turn right. Cross the road using the pedestrian bridge on the official map to reach Yonago-airport Station · 米子空港駅, about 5 minutes on foot. The station is separate from the terminal. An older map’s 250 m estimate does not cover every current arrivals-to-platform route. JR lists step-free access from the station entrance to the platform, with no lift or escalator at the station; this does not confirm a covered or fully step-free route from the terminal. Check the actual route with airport staff for a wheelchair, large luggage or snow. Airport official route map · Station facility information
- Choose the Sakai Line train for Yonago or Sakaiminato before boarding. Local trains need no seat reservation, but a seat is not guaranteed. The airport station has no staffed Midori ticket office, Midori ticket machine or e5489 collection service. ICOCA is processed on the train; follow the vehicle’s instructions. For cash or paper tickets, ask station staff or the train crew how to pay.
Choose the bus stop for your destination
- Matsue direct bus: stop 4 outside domestic arrivals. From international arrivals, follow the first-floor lobby towards the domestic area.
- Bus connecting with Seoul arrivals via Kaike Onsen to Yonago Station: stop 7 beside international arrivals. Its route differs from the domestic-flight bus to Yonago.
- Bus connecting with domestic arrivals to Yonago: use the bus area outside domestic arrivals and look for 米子駅. Recheck the stop number and destination on site.
- Sakaiminato Minatoru shared bus: stop 2. Reserve before travelling.
The first-floor map shows international bus stops 7–8, domestic-side bus stops 1–4, and taxi stand 5. Some buses require a ticket from the lobby machine before boarding. Keep power banks with you in the passenger cabin when placing luggage in a bus compartment. The Seoul-arrival bus lists cash as its basic payment method. The Matsue bus also accepts cash on board, supported contactless bank cards and official digital tickets; follow that route’s payment conditions. Airport 1st floor official map
Compare fares and journey times to Yonago, Matsue and Kaike Onsen
Times below cover the ride. Add the roughly 5-minute walk to JR, ticketing, waiting, transfers and the walk to your hotel. The two local trains to Matsue take about 60 minutes in total; tourism information estimates about 90 minutes including the transfer.
The 90-minute estimate does not include international arrivals procedures or an extended wait for a train.

The 770 yen Matsue fare is a through local-train fare from the airport station. Buying separate tickets for Airport–Yonago (240 yen) and Yonago–Matsue is a different calculation. Limited-express trains on the Sanin Main Line require a limited-express ticket in addition to the basic fare.
All Yakumo seats are reserved. A local-train ticket alone does not cover Yakumo; check JR’s fare and reservation search for your date, train and seat. JR official fare/reservation search
Bus times follow the timetable and may increase with traffic, snow, wind or diversions. Add the final walk or taxi ride according to whether your hotel is near a station or the Kaike coast.

Yonago Airport to a hotel near Yonago Station
Yonago Station · 米子駅 is separate from the airport, which is in Sakaiminato City. Choose a Yonago-bound JR train or a bus you can reach after your actual arrival.
- JR: international arrivals → walk to the airport station → local train for Yonago → Yonago Station → hotel. The train takes about 30 minutes and costs 240 yen; add the final walk to your hotel address.
- Domestic-flight bus: buy or pay for your ticket → domestic-side bus stop → drop-off north of Yonago Station → hotel. The timetable gives about 28 minutes and 640 yen to the station, then about 3 more minutes to ANA Crowne Plaza. It does not serve every hotel.
- Seoul-arrival bus: international-side stop 7 → Kaike Onsen → drop-off north of Yonago Station → hotel. The station journey takes about 45 minutes and costs 640 yen, with a longer route than the domestic-flight bus.
Yonago Station’s airport-bound stop 7 has a temporary relocation notice. Check the return boarding point separately from your arrival drop-off point. The walking link leads to the station tourist information centre; change the destination to your hotel address. Temporary relocation notice · Yonago Station Tourist Information Center walking route
Yonago Airport to a hotel near Matsue Station
Matsue Station · 松江駅 has a direct airport bus with no intermediate passenger stops. Departures connect with specified domestic flights, rather than every international arrival.
- International arrivals → domestic-side lobby for ticketing and payment → stop 4 outside domestic arrivals → Matsue Station stop 9 → hotel. The direct bus takes about 45 minutes and costs 1,200 yen.
- For JR, walk to the airport station and take the Sakai Line towards Yonago. At Yonago, change to a Sanin Main Line train towards Matsue or Izumoshi · 出雲市 that stops at Matsue. The through local-train fare is 770 yen. Check both your arrival platform and the next train’s departure platform.
The 29 March–24 October 2026 bus timetable connects with ANA381, 383, 1087, 385, 387 and 389. After an international flight, compare the next available bus with a train journey via Yonago.
Scheduled airport departures are 08:25, 10:35, 13:25, 16:45, 19:35 and 21:35. For travel from 25 October, use the operator’s next-period timetable.
The direct bus does not accept seat reservations, and you cannot board when full. It leaves on airport staff’s instruction after baggage delivery for its connecting domestic flight, and waits until the scheduled departure if that flight arrives early. Ask the operator whether it can wait for international arrivals procedures; onward connections are not guaranteed. Current and next period timetable and payment information
Lobby ticket machines accept supported transport IC cards and electronic payments, excluding PiTaPa. Contactless bank-card payment on board is a separate system. The bus has luggage-compartment instructions, but ask about size, quantity or special equipment. From Matsue stop 9, follow walking directions to the station’s north side and then your hotel. After getting off at number 9, walk north of the station
Matsue Station to Matsue Castle and nearby hotels
Matsue Castle · 松江城 is away from Matsue Station. Continue by city bus, taxi or a separate walk.
Take the Lake Line sightseeing loop bus from station stop 7 to National Treasure Matsue Castle (Otemae), then walk to the entrance. The adult single fare is 250 yen, additional to the 1,200 yen airport bus. The airport bus uses stop 9 and the Lake Line uses stop 7. Check the Lake Line’s hours before relying on it after a late arrival. City bus official timetable and operation notice
Follow the walking route from the stop to the castle’s main gate. Grounds include gravel paths and steps, and the keep has no lift. Check the tourist information centre’s paid luggage storage or lockers and opening hours before taking large luggage to the castle. Add the final walk or taxi to a nearby hotel’s address. Stop → Matsue Castle main gate walking route
From Yonago Airport to Sakaiminato and Mizuki Shigeru Road
For Sakaiminato Station · 境港駅, take a Sakaiminato-bound train from the airport station—the opposite direction to Yonago. The ride takes about 15 minutes and costs 190 yen.
- International lobby → JR connecting pedestrian route on the right → Airport Station.
- Check the destination ‘境港’ → Sakai Line local train → Sakaiminato Station.
- From the station forecourt, enter Mizuki Shigeru Road · 水木しげるロード and continue to your chosen facility or hotel.
The street extends about 800 m from the station to Mizuki Shigeru Memorial Hall. Add the walk along the street if visiting the museum; reaching the street entrance does not put you at the museum. Use the walking link and official street map for the final section. Station → Street → Memorial Hall walking route · Official street map of the Tourism Association
Minatoru: a 100 yen shared bus requiring a reservation
After arrivals, confirm your reservation and payment method, then go to airport stop 2. Ride to your reserved Sakaiminato stop and continue to your destination. Reserve through the app, LINE or phone. Service hours are 07:00–20:00, except 31 December–3 January when it does not run.
Cash, supported cards and transport IC are payment options; first check registration and booking availability. Pickup times, route and duration depend on your reservation. Service until 20:00 does not guarantee a pickup at the airport at 20:00.
Give the operator your passenger numbers and luggage details when booking. If a flight delay affects your pickup, contact the booking channel to change or cancel it; waiting is not automatic.
How to get to Kaike Onsen accommodation from Yonago Airport
Kaike Onsen · 皆生温泉 is separate from the Yonago Station hotel district. For a coastal ryokan, check the actual drop-off point before choosing a bus labelled “Yonago”.
- Seoul-arrival connection: prepare payment in the international first-floor lobby → stop 7 → Kaike Onsen → hotel. Through 24 October 2026, the bus connects with Seoul arrivals on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday: airport 15:50 → Kaike Onsen 16:15 → Yonago Station 16:35. The hot-spring journey takes about 25 minutes and costs 500 yen.
- Via Yonago Station: airport train or bus → Yonago Station → city bus stopping at Kaike Onsen Tourist Centre → hotel. The station-to-tourist-centre ride adds about 19 minutes and 300 yen. Check the destination rather than boarding other services to Shinkai, Aeon or the industrial gymnasium shown on the same timetable.
The Seoul bus will not run when the flight is canceled, and you may not be able to ride if it is full. Airport departures may change depending on actual arrival conditions, but this is not an unlimited waiting service for all passengers.
Show the driver your hotel’s name and confirm the Kaike drop-off point. The city bus’s Kaike Onsen Tourist Centre stop and the airport bus’s Kaike Onsen stop are not confirmed as the same boarding bay.
The walking link from the tourist centre towards the beach helps locate the area. Replace its destination with your ryokan’s address. Use a hotel shuttle only when the hotel has confirmed your reservation, time and pickup point. Tourist Center → Walking path toward the beach
Last departures, late arrivals and winter travel
These departures run from the airport towards the city. JR times were checked for Sunday 4 October and weekday Monday 5 October 2026; bus times follow the 29 March–24 October timetable. Recheck date-specific changes and disruptions. The airport terminal’s published opening hours are 06:00–22:00.
- Airport Station → Yonago: Weekdays 22:52 → 23:22, Saturdays and holidays 22:08 → 22:37. Just because the station has a timetable that departs after the terminal closes, doesn't mean you can wait in the lobby late at night.
- Airport Station → Sakaiminato: Weekdays 23:15 → 23:29, Saturdays and holidays 22:30 → 22:45.
- Domestic-flight bus to Yonago Station: last scheduled departure 21:30 → 21:58, connecting with ANA389. It is separate from the 15:50 Seoul-arrival bus via Kaike Onsen.
- Matsue direct bus: airport stop 4 at 21:35 → Matsue Station stop 9 at 22:20, connecting with ANA389. It leaves 5 minutes after the Yonago bus.
- Seoul-arrival bus to Kaike Onsen: one scheduled service from stop 7 at 15:50 → 16:15 on its operating days. There is no daily late-night direct bus to the hot springs.
- Yonago Station to Kaike Onsen Tourist Centre: the published weekday and weekend/holiday timetables give the last departure as 20:45 → 21:04. A late airport bus can arrive too late for this connection.
Check the onward connection from Yonago to Matsue
On the checked 4–5 October timetables, the last local train from Yonago to Matsue is 22:40 → 23:09. The weekend/holiday last train from the airport reaches Yonago at 22:37, leaving only 3 minutes to change.
Three minutes is a tight connection with luggage or a platform change, and a delay can make you miss it. On weekdays, the last airport train arrives at Yonago at 23:22, after the last local train to Matsue has left.
Yakumo 29 runs Yonago 23:30 → Matsue 23:52, but the timetable notes suspension between Yonago and Izumoshi on 13–15, 19–22 and 26–29 October, and 4–5, 9–12 and 16–19 November. Confirm operation on your date, a reserved seat and the extra limited-express charge. Even when it runs, the 8-minute connection from the last weekday airport train is not guaranteed. Operation date/suspension annotation for train details
After the last train, compare official taxis, confirmed pickups, and hotels.
At official taxi stand 5 outside the terminal, give your destination, passenger numbers and luggage details and ask for a fare estimate. Fares vary with destination, time and road conditions. Taxis are not guaranteed to remain available; contact an official airport taxi operator if needed. Airport taxi operator
For a pre-booked pickup, confirm the reservation number, meeting point, flight-delay waiting limit, no-show terms and cancellation conditions. If you cannot reach your destination that day, ask airport staff or your hotel about nearby accommodation and transport.
The terminal is not confirmed as an overnight waiting area. For a rental car, use the official first-floor counters and listed operators. Before booking, check closing and collection times, valid driving documents, winter equipment and the return location.
A rental car may not be available at short notice.
If the flight is delayed or there is snow or strong winds
- Check the airport’s same-day operations/announcements and the flight status of the airline you are using. Airport same-day operations and announcements
- Check the Sakai Line and Sanin Main Line separately in JR West’s Chugoku-region service information. JR West Chugoku region operation information
- Check Hinomaru airport buses, Matsue Ichibata direct buses and Matsue city buses individually for current operation. Hinomaru Airport Bus/Notice · Matsue Ichibata direct bus · Matsue city bus
Snow alone does not confirm a flight cancellation. A JR suspension does not guarantee that a bus is operating or has seats. Allow extra time for icy or wet pavements, wind and luggage, and tell your hotel about a late check-in.
If you arrive late and alone, check the vehicle information at the official information center or bus stop before moving on.
For a local train, check the next departure; seats are not reserved. For a pre-purchased limited-express reservation, check e5489 or the issuing office’s change and refund conditions before departure. e5489 or ticket issuer’s change/refund policy
Conditions vary depending on the discount product and usage/receipt status. If you miss an unused reserved seat, you will not automatically receive the next reserved seat. For Minatoru, pick-up, and rental car reservations, contact the reservation office as soon as you become aware of the delay, and also check the validity period and refund conditions separately for pre-purchased bus tickets.

Yonago Airport transportation, frequently asked questions
How do I get from Yonago Airport to Yonago Station?
From JR Yonago Airport Station, take the Sakai Line towards Yonago: about 30 minutes and 240 yen per adult. The domestic-flight airport bus takes about 28 minutes for 640 yen. The bus linked to Seoul arrivals goes via Kaike Onsen and takes about 45 minutes to Yonago Station, also for 640 yen. These services use different routes and stops.
How do I walk from the airport terminal to JR Yonago Airport Station?
After immigration, baggage collection and customs, follow JR signs from first-floor arrivals, exit and turn right, then cross the pedestrian bridge to the airport station. The airport gives about 5 minutes on foot; add time for luggage and weather. JR lists step-free access from the station entrance to the platform, but this does not confirm a covered or fully step-free route from the terminal.
For a hotel near Yonago Station, should I use the airport bus or a JR train?
A terminal-front bus may reduce the walk with luggage if its departure suits your flight. JR costs 240 yen, but involves walking to the station and waiting, with no seat guarantee. The bus linked to Seoul arrivals goes via Kaike Onsen and takes about 45 minutes; it is not always faster than the train.
Is there a bus that goes from Yonago Airport to Matsue Station without transferring?
Yes. The direct bus from No. 4 in front of the domestic arrival lobby to JR Matsue Station No. 9 takes about 45 minutes and costs 1,200 yen one way for adults. The timetable valid until October 24, 2026 is a connection to six ANA domestic flights. After arriving on an international flight, wait for a suitable bus departure or transfer to JR at Yonago Station. Reservations are not accepted, and you may not be able to ride if all seats are full.
How do I transfer from Yonago Station to Matsue Station?
At Yonago, leave the Sakai Line train and check the Sanin Main Line departure towards Matsue/Izumoshi, ensuring it calls at Matsue. The local-train ride takes about 30 minutes and a separately purchased Yonago–Matsue fare is 510 yen. The published through local fare from the airport station is 770 yen. Yakumo has all-reserved seats and requires a limited-express ticket in addition to the basic fare.
Which direction do I take the train to get from Yonago Airport to Sakaiminato?
Take the Sakai Line towards Sakaiminato, opposite to Yonago: about 15 minutes and 190 yen. Minatoru from airport stop 2 is a separate 100 yen shared bus. It requires an advance app or phone reservation; waiting at the stop without a booking is insufficient.
At which station do I get off at Mizuki Shigeru Road?
Get off at Sakaiminato Station for Mizuki Shigeru Road, which starts outside the station and runs about 800 m towards the Mizuki Shigeru Museum. The street entrance and museum are different points: add the walk to your destination. Yonago-bound trains travel in the opposite direction.
How do I get from Yonago Airport to Kaike Onsen accommodation?
Through 24 October 2026, the bus connecting with Seoul arrivals runs on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from stop 7 at 15:50, reaching Kaike Onsen in about 25 minutes for 500 yen. It does not run if its flight is cancelled. At other times, go via Yonago Station and compare the 300 yen city bus to Kaike Onsen Tourist Centre. Add the walk or taxi to your ryokan.
What transportation is convenient if I have a large suitcase?
A bus stop near your hotel can reduce walking and transfers. Matsue buses have luggage-compartment guidance, but ask the operator about size, quantity, wheelchairs or special equipment. Local JR trains have unreserved seats and can be crowded; keep doors and aisles clear. City buses may have different storage from airport buses.
What if I arrive late or miss the last train?
Allow immigration, baggage and the station walk before choosing a departure. The checked last airport-station trains are Yonago 22:52 weekdays or 22:08 weekends/holidays, and Sakaiminato 23:15 or 22:30 respectively. Recheck your date. The terminal closes at 22:00. After services end, compare official taxi stand 5, a confirmed pickup or reachable nearby accommodation.
Where can I check the same-day operation status of flights, JR, and buses?
Check airport and airline flight updates, JR West’s Chugoku service notices, and Hinomaru and Matsue Ichibata bus announcements. A suspension of one service does not establish that all others have stopped or that replacements will run. Ask your booked pickup about waiting, changes and cancellations after a flight delay.
