Statue and lake views at Katajiri

The statue is about a one-minute walk from Katajiri bus stop. Get off during the lake loop bus’s sightseeing stop to explore the statue area and lake views.

Take the Lake Tazawa loop bus outside Tazawako Station and get off at Katajiri (潟尻). The ride takes about 30 minutes, followed by a one-minute walk to the Statue of Tatsuko. To use a sightseeing stop, choose a service that includes one and return on the same bus. The eastern lakeshore boat pier is at a different stop.

Check that your bus has sightseeing stops

Some Lake Tazawa loop buses stop for 20 minutes at Katajiri and 10 minutes at Gozanoishi Shrine. Return to the same bus before the stop ends. Some early-morning and evening services have no sightseeing stops; some services do not run on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays or designated holiday periods. Follow local notices if snow or restrictions affect roads and walking paths. This itinerary sees the statue during a daytime sightseeing stop on the loop bus; sightseeing boats, restaurants, parking and night visits are excluded.
