The individual combined ticket for Saiin Garan, Daihozoin and Toin Garan costs 2,000 yen for adults, university and high school students; 1,700 yen for junior high school students; and 1,000 yen for elementary school children. Payment is cash only; groups of 30 or more have separate rates. The official fee revision date is March 1, 2025.
Opening hours
Open 08:00–17:00 February 22–November 3, and 08:00–16:30 November 4–February 21. Reception closes 30 minutes before closing, at 16:30 and 16:00 respectively. Check separate dates and guidance for special openings.

How to get to Horyuji
From JR Nara, take the Yamatoji Line to Horyuji station. Walk about 20 minutes from the north exit to the temple’s South Gate. This differs from the bus route departing the south exit, so check which exit you need. For bus travel, check services and fares for your visit date separately.

Before you visit
Allow further walking after reaching the South Gate
The South Gate is about 20 minutes on foot from JR Horyuji station’s north exit. You still need time to reach reception and explore Saiin Garan, Daihozoin and Toin Garan. Arrive with time to spare, as some facilities may be unavailable shortly before closing.
