Visitor information
Admission
There is no admission fee for the ordinary main sanctuary worship point. Special main sanctuary worship, including the corridors and lanterns, costs 700 yen. The National Treasure Hall and Manyo Botanical Garden charge separately.
Opening hours
The ordinary worship point opens 06:30–17:30 March–October and 07:00–17:00 November–February. Special main sanctuary worship is available 09:00–16:00; see the visiting information below for ritual suspension dates and times.
What to see at Kasuga Taisha
A shrine approach with lanterns and red buildings
Follow the lanterns along the approach to reach red shrine buildings. Allow time both to walk from Nara Park and to worship at the shrine.
Special worship for hanging lanterns in the corridors
Choose special main sanctuary worship to see the corridors’ hanging lanterns. Its visiting scope differs from free ordinary worship. The National Treasure Hall and botanical garden each require separate admission.

How to get to Kasuga Taisha
Kasuga Taisha is about 25 minutes on foot from Kintetsu-Nara. By bus, take a Kasuga-Taisha-Honden service from JR Nara or Kintetsu-Nara and alight at the terminus. The official three-minute walk after alighting refers to the botanical garden’s front gate and Kasuga Ninai Jaya. Allow separate time to walk to the main sanctuary and queue at the ordinary worship point.

Before you visit
Check whether special worship is available on your date
Special main sanctuary worship is available 09:00–16:00, but suspended all day around March 8–13 and December 20–January 7. Other exceptions include morning suspensions on the 1st, 11th and 21st of each month and official ritual days. Events and rituals may change hours or temporarily suspend access, so check your visit-date notices. The ordinary worship point has separate seasonal hours.
