How to get to Udo Shrine

Take a bus towards Obi from Miyazaki Station and get off at Udo-Jingu. Official tourism guidance lists about 90 minutes on the bus and, under normal conditions, about 10 minutes on foot from the stop to the shrine. Access restrictions may change that route and walking time, so check the latest notice for the detour. Check return buses and section fares too. Steps descend into the cave to reach the main sanctuary.

Parking access restriction notice dated 7 September 2026

In its 7 September 2026 notice, the operator directed visitors to the visitor car park because the access roads to car parks 1 and 2 were restricted. The roughly 20-minute walk from the visitor car park to the main sanctuary is one way; worship and the return walk take additional time. The notice gives no reopening date, so check subsequent information for your travel date.
