Chichu Art Museum brings together Monet’s Water Lilies and Tadao Ando’s architecture. Most of the building is underground, but natural light enters, changing the appearance of the art and spaces throughout the day.

Admission
Online adult admission costs ¥2,500 on weekdays and ¥2,700 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Tickets bought at the museum cost ¥2,800 and ¥3,000 respectively. Visitors aged 15 and under enter free. Reserve a date and entry time. If online tickets sell out, none are sold at the museum that day.
Opening hours
Opening hours are 10:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:00. It closes on Mondays, or the following day if Monday is a public holiday.

What to see at Chichu Art Museum
Art, architecture and natural light
As you view Monet’s Water Lilies, look at the surrounding space and the light entering it too. Natural light enters Tadao Ando’s building, changing the appearance of the art and spaces throughout the day.
How to get to Chichu Art Museum
Take the local bus from Miyanoura Port to Tsutsuji-so. Change to the free shuttle and get off at the Chichu ticket centre, then walk to the museum entrance. On the official map of the Benesse House area, G marks the ticket centre and shuttle stop. Follow the separately marked path southwest towards Chichu Art Museum. Arriving at the ticket centre does not mean you are at the museum entrance, so allow time for the walk and entry queue when planning around your reservation.

Before you visit
Island transport for your timed entry
Once you have chosen your visit date and entry time, select boats and island buses that can get you there in time. The shuttle’s ticket centre stop and the museum entrance are separate, so allow time for the walk too.
