Admission

Individual admission costs ¥500 for adults and ¥170 for elementary and junior high school pupils. Children below school age enter free. Admission is free on 1 January and 16 March. Boats and teahouses cost extra.

Opening hours

The garden normally opens every day, with seasonal hours: 07:00–17:00 in January and December; 07:00–17:30 in February; 06:30–18:00 in March; 05:30–18:30 in April, May and September; 05:30–19:00 from June to August; 06:00–17:30 in October; and 06:30–17:00 in November. It may close temporarily during storm or blizzard warnings.

How to get to Ritsurin Garden

By Kotoden, get off at Ritsurin-Koen Station and walk about 7 minutes towards the East Gate. By JR, get off at Ritsurin-Koen-Kitaguchi Station and walk about 3 minutes towards the North Gate. These are separate stations. The official walking estimates exclude traffic lights, ticket purchases and time spent exploring the garden.

Before you visit

Choosing the East or North Gate

Walk towards the East Gate from Kotoden Ritsurin-Koen Station, or the North Gate from JR Ritsurin-Koen-Kitaguchi Station. These are separate stations, so choose your exit to suit the train you will take afterwards.
