Yomeimon and animal carvings

Find ornate decorations at Yomeimon and the Three Wise Monkeys and Sleeping Cat carvings in the grounds. Look for small carvings as you walk among the buildings.

From JR Nikko or Tobu-Nikko Station, take a Tobu Bus to Nishisando Iriguchi. Follow Omotesando signs to Toshogu’s entrance. The operator’s diversion map gives about 10 minutes on foot from the stop, excluding admission queues.

Steps within the grounds

After leaving the bus, walk to the entrance and climb steps during your visit too. If arriving late in the afternoon, allow for the entrance walk and seasonal last admission. Check temporary closures and events in official guidance for your date.
