Admission

High-school students and older: shrine 700 yen, museum 600 or combined 1,200. Elementary/junior-high students: shrine and museum 300 each, combined 500. Pay ropeway fares separately.

Opening hours

Shrine worship hours are 09:00–17:00, reception until 16:50. The shrine is listed as open year-round. Check separate information for museum visits and special events.

How to get to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine

Board Nihondaira Ropeway at Nihondaira Station and alight at Kunozan, about five minutes away. Climb about 80 steps to the shrine buildings. Return down the steps to Kunozan Station for the ropeway. The basic first Nihondaira departure is 09:10; last return from Kunozan is 17:00. Choose both directions against your date’s operating notices.

Before you visit

Stairs remain after the ropeway

About 80 steps connect Kunozan Station and the shrine buildings. The approximately five-minute ropeway ride excludes ticketing, queues and stairs. After visiting, return down the steps to Kunozan Station.

Nihondaira Ropeway plans suspension for equipment works on 1–21 December 2026. You cannot reach the shrine by this ropeway during that period. Check operator notices if your dates overlap.

Does a shrine ticket include the museum and ropeway?

Neither is included. For the museum too, buy a separate museum ticket or shrine–museum combined ticket. Ropeway fares remain separate.
