What to see at Ueno Zoo
See animals in the east and west areas
Exhibits are divided between east and west. Start with the area housing your preferred animals. For both areas, allow time to travel between them and rest.
How to get to Ueno Zoo
Use JR Ueno's Park Exit. The zoo Main Gate is about a 5-minute walk away.
Before you visit
Last admission is 16:00
The zoo closes at 17:00, but ticket sales and entry end at 16:00. Arrive with time to see several exhibits rather than just before last admission.
Monday and New Year closures
The zoo is usually closed Mondays, or the next day when Monday is a public or substitute holiday. Also closed 29 December–1 January. Some Mondays have opening exceptions; check your date's calendar.
Questions about Ueno Zoo
