Kusatsu Yubatake: getting there and walking the square

Kusatsu Onsen Yubatake · 草津温泉 湯畑

Yubatake is the steam-filled centre of Kusatsu Onsen. Walk there from the bus terminal, then choose a separate bathhouse if you plan to bathe.

For the view from the Yutaki side of the square, open the Kusatsu Yubatake camera. It does not show bathing areas.

From the bus terminal to Yubatake

The Kusatsu Onsen Tourism Association describes the walk from Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal to Yubatake as about five minutes. That is only the walk after reaching the terminal; it does not include the bus journey into Kusatsu.

If you arrive by rail, check the connecting bus from Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station before you leave. The overall journey depends on your starting station and transfer.

What the square is for

Wooden channels carry hot spring water through Yubatake, with streets and bathhouses around the square. A walk around the channels and the Yutaki side works as a short arrival activity.

The square is not a bathhouse. Check the opening conditions and fee of the individual facility you want to use.

What the camera shows

The linked camera looks towards Yubatake from the Yutaki side. It does not show indoor baths or the entire hot-spring town.
