Beppu hells or Yufuin walks?
In Beppu, visit the five Kannawa hells on one day and Chinoike and Tatsumaki on the other. For hot-spring town walks, choose one Yufuin night. Omit day-two sights for a morning flight.

- Chinoike Jigoku-mae → Beppu Station
After viewing, take the outer-loop route 16 towards Beppu Station from Chinoike Jigoku-mae. Route 26 goes towards Kannawa; distinguish the directions. Allow facility-to-stop walks when choosing the official return service.
- Beppu accommodation → Kitahama airport-bound stand
Collect bags and go to the Kitahama airport-bound stand. Plan the walk or transport for your booked hotel address, allowing its time and cost separately. The airport-bound boarding point differs from your arrival stop.
Check the actual route and travel time from your hotel to the Kitahama airport-bound stand.
- Kitahama airport-bound stand → Oita Airport
Choose an airport-bound bus in your date’s official timetable that leaves ample time before airline check-in closes. Adult single fare is 1,600 yen. Allow traffic delays and airport procedures beyond scheduled bus arrival. If you cannot catch it after sightseeing, shorten or omit final-day visits.
Go from east stand 5 on route 26, then distinguish route 16’s loop direction on return. The 1,100-yen Mini One-Day Pass for this day is included. Allow entrance walks and eruption waits separately. After collecting hotel bags, omit today’s sights if the Kitahama bus and airport procedures do not fit.
Included items: Hells combined ticket 2,400 yen; day-one route 5 return 780 yen; Kitahama airport buses both ways 3,200 yen; day-two Kamenoi Bus Mini One-Day Pass 1,100 yen for route 26 outward and route 16 return.
Costs outside the subtotal: Hotels, meals, flights, bathing, private facilities, bag storage and extra travel between hotels, Kitahama, stations and bus centres.
This subtotal adds the hells combined ticket and listed transport and admission. Day two’s 1,100-yen Mini One-Day Pass is included in 7,480 yen. Do not reuse a one-day pass on another date; it does not replace hells admission. Hotels, meals, flights and bathing are extra.

Walk Yunotsubo Street and Lake Kinrin on separate days
Choose this for an unhurried shopping-street and lakeside walk. Stay one night near Yufuin Station, visiting Yunotsubo Street first and Lake Kinrin on day two. Fit walks around hotel meals, shuttles and the departure-day airport bus.
Day 1: airport → Yufuin hotel → Yunotsubo Street
Leave bags at your Yufuin hotel and walk Yunotsubo Street. After a late arrival, prioritise hotel dinner and check-in.
- Oita Airport → Yufuin Station
Take the bus from Oita Airport to the bus centre in front of Yufuin Station. Adult single fare is 2,000 yen. In the official timetable below, choose a service you can catch after immigration and bag collection. Shorten the street walk after a late arrival.

- Yufuin accommodation → Yunotsubo Street
Leave bags at your station-area hotel. If daylight remains, have lunch and explore Yunotsubo Street’s shops. Opening hours vary; after a late arrival, keep to a shorter street walk and your hotel meal. Return in time for your ryokan’s check-in, dinner and shuttle arrangements.

Check actual Yufuin-bound airport services and boarding points, then alight at the bus centre. Leave bags at your hotel before walking. After a late arrival, reduce the walk to meet hotel dinner and check-in times.
Day 2: Lake Kinrin → bus centre → airport
After Lake Kinrin, take the airport bus from the bus centre in front of Yufuin Station.
- Yufuin Station and accommodation → Lake Kinrin
After checkout, walk towards Lake Kinrin via Yunotsubo Street if your hotel can store bags. Yufu City’s 2023 map estimates about 25 minutes from the station to the lake. Returning the same way gives about 50 minutes of walking alone; shopping, photos, rests and hotel access are extra. Shorten the lake walk to leave time for airport travel. Morning mist is not guaranteed.

Costs outside the subtotal: Hotels, meals, flights, bathing, private facilities, bag storage and extra travel between hotels, Kitahama, stations and bus centres.

Hells bus passes and airport return
Do I need both a hells admission ticket and city bus pass?
The hells combined ticket and bus pass are separate. This course counts day-one route 5 return at ordinary fares of 780 yen, and day-two route 26 outward/route 16 return with a 1,100-yen Mini One-Day Pass. One day pass is not used across both dates.
The Mini Pass covers the Beppu hells and Kijima Kogen area. For Yufuin, check Wide Pass coverage and compare ordinary fares. This bus pass excludes Oita Kotsu airport buses, JR, ropeway and hells admission. No Beppu bus pass is added to one-night course B’s Yufuin walks.

Where do I leave for the airport from Beppu or Yufuin?
Keep final-day visits short before returning to the airport. In Beppu, go to the Kitahama airport-bound stand; in Yufuin, use the station-front bus centre. Distinguish Kitahama’s departure boarding point from your arrival stop.
Choose a bus in your date’s official timetable that leaves ample time before airline check-in closes. Allow hotel bag collection and stop access; confirm storage with the hotel. Without a suitable bus after sightseeing, shorten or omit final-day visits.
The checked Yufuin–airport timetable covers October 1–24, 2026. From October 25, check the new timetable for your travel date. Airport buses do not guarantee connections for flight check-in.
