White-walled buildings line the canal. Explore lanes, browse shops and take breaks. You can walk the streets without entering art museums; shops and individual facilities follow their own opening days.

  • AdmissionThe official introduction does not list an admission ticket for the whole quarter. Museums, sightseeing boats and activities cost separately.
  • Hours and closuresStreet walks and shop hours are separate. Check your date’s sightseeing-boat times and suspensions independently.
  • Getting thereOfficial guidance gives about ten minutes from Kurashiki Station’s south side to the quarter entrance. This differs from the museum’s roughly 15-minute main-building access; allow JR riding and waiting separately.

See Western paintings, crafts and Eastern art between quarter walks. The main building and Torajiro Kojima Memorial Hall have different hours.

  • AdmissionStandard admission is 2,000 yen; elementary/junior-/high-school students under 18 500; preschool children enter free. The ticket covers the main building, Craft Art/Eastern Art galleries and Torajiro Kojima Memorial Hall. The annex is closed long-term.

Washuzan viewpoint

Mount Washuzan鷲羽山

For high views over Seto Ohashi Bridge and islands, consider Washuzan. If waiting for sunset, plan visiting time around your return to Kojima Station. See the relevant image through the camera link. It looks across the Seto Inland Sea and islands from Washuzan; it cannot establish all facility interiors or visiting availability.

  • AdmissionViewpoint walks and visitor center are free. Daytime bus pass: adults 520 yen, children 260; separate from the sunset programme. These three-/four-night Washuzan routes use the 540-yen sunset programme instead of the daytime pass. Taxis and meals are extra.
  • Hours and closuresVisitor center April–September 09:00–17:00; October–March 09:00–16:30. Closed 29 December–3 January. Safe outdoor viewpoint access depends on on-site conditions.
  • Getting thereFrom Kojima Station stand 4, take a bus towards the second viewpoint to Washuzan Daini Tenbodai (鷲羽山第二展望台), then walk about five minutes to the viewpoint. Check operator notices for your date’s diverted temporary service. The visitor center is a different destination, about ten minutes towards the summit from the car park. Return services go via Obatake to Kojima Station.
  • Using the sunset busThis separate programme leaves Kojima stand 5 on Fridays, Saturdays and days before public holidays. Adults and children both pay 540 yen. View for about 15 minutes at each of two points, then return to the station. Check official monthly departure/return times. No booking is needed, but you cannot board if the bus is full. It is separate from the daytime pass; clear views or sunset colours are not guaranteed.

Kibitsu Shrine

Kibitsujinja Shrine吉備津神社

Kibitsu Shrine’s long corridor follows the terrain. Walk about ten minutes from Kibitsu Station to worship and explore architecture. When finding your way, distinguish similarly named Kibitsuhiko Shrine.

  • Fees and bookingsOrdinary worship is available during gate hours; the current FAQ specifies no admission amount. Paid prayers start at 5,000 yen per prayer request and are excluded from this itinerary.
  • HoursThe gates open 05:00–18:00. Goshuin stamp reception ends at 16:00, separately from worship hours.
  • Getting thereFrom Okayama, take JR Kibi Line (Momotaro Line) towards Soja to Kibitsu, then walk about ten minutes. Japanese shrine access gives about 17 minutes by rail and ten walking as references; sampled JR journeys take 15–18 minutes one way. Check date-specific timetables and allow waiting separately. Return from the same station towards Okayama.
  • Visiting areasMain-hall interiors are not open to ordinary visitors. The planned 60–90 minutes covers corridors/grounds; it is not an official standard visiting time.

See everyday items such as pottery and textiles in converted rice warehouses. Choose this for everyday crafts instead of Ohara’s paintings.

Does the Ohara ticket include the folkcraft museum?

They are separate facilities. Ohara’s standard 2,000-yen ticket covers main building, Craft Art/Eastern Art galleries and Torajiro Kojima Memorial Hall. Folkcraft base admission is 1,200 and may vary by exhibition.

Do all three Ohara buildings have the same hours?

In March–November, the main building opens 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:30; the memorial hall opens 10:00–16:00. In December–February, the main building opens 09:00–15:00, with last admission at 14:30; the memorial hall opens 10:00–15:00. Check temporary changes and your date’s calendar too.
