Castle exhibitions or aquarium in 2 days?
Choose castle exhibitions on day 1 and Dotonbori riverside on day 2, or Kaiyukan on day 1 and Parks Garden on day 2.
These assume arrival in Namba by day. For a morning flight home, omit day 2 sightseeing and go to the airport.

Day 1 | Osaka Castle from Namba, then back to your hotel
Eat lunch in Namba, then enjoy castle exhibitions and park walks. After a delayed arrival, shorten the visit to fit last admission or move it to another day.
- Namba → Hommachi
After lunch, take a northbound Midosuji Line train from Namba. Get off two stops later at Hommachi and transfer to the Chuo Line.
- Hommachi → Tanimachi 4-chome
At Hommachi, stay inside the gates and transfer to the Chuo Line towards Nagata and Ikoma, getting off at Tanimachi 4-chome. Search the route from Namba via Hommachi to Tanimachi 4-chome for your date and allow for platform travel and waits at Hommachi.
- Tanimachi 4-chome, exit 9 → Otemon Gate and main tower
From Tanimachi 4-chome exit 9, follow the park map through Otemon to the main tower's ticket and entrance area. The official station-to-tower walk takes about 15–20 minutes. A typical tower visit takes 50–60 minutes, or about 90 minutes for a closer look. Afterwards, walk around the castle exterior and moats. If ticket queues are long, shorten the park walk. Other paid areas such as Nishinomaru Garden are separate choices.
- Main tower → Tanimachi 4-chome, Hommachi and Namba
After your visit, return to Tanimachi 4-chome and take the Chuo Line west towards Hommachi. Transfer there to the Midosuji Line towards Tennoji and Nakamozu and get off at Namba. Check in at your hotel and eat dinner in Namba. For evening lights, keep to a short visit around Ebisubashi and save the riverside walk for tomorrow.
- Late arrival or closure day → Adjusting the visit
Tower last admission is 17:30, but busy periods can end admissions earlier. Closed 28 December–1 January. After a late arrival, eat in Namba on day 1. Move the tower to day 2 only if enough airport travel time remains afterwards. Otherwise, omit the exhibitions and stay around Namba.
Day 2 | Riverside walk, then back to Namba Station
- Namba hotel → Dotonbori riverside
Take a short morning riverside walk. The tourism bureau gives about 5 minutes from Midosuji Line Namba to the walkway. Follow signs towards Dotonbori and Ebisubashi, pass the signs around the bridge and go down to the riverside path. Return towards Ebisubashi after walking. Street and riverside walks exclude a boat cruise.
- Dotonbori riverside → Meal and return to Namba Station
After walking and eating, return towards Ebisubashi and Namba Station. Shops and restaurants keep individual hours; they do not all open early. For a morning departure, skip the riverside walk and go to your reserved service's departure station.
Included: Tower admission and ordinary Metro return between Namba and Tanimachi 4-chome
Extra costs and conditions: Flights, accommodation, meals, luggage storage, airport transport, extra paid facilities and additional transport needed for your hotel's location are excluded.
Tower admission 1,200 yen + ordinary Namba–Tanimachi 4-chome fare 240 yen × 2 = 1,680 yen. There are no buses; day 2 uses walks within Namba. Choosing a day 1 Metro one-day pass makes the undiscounted subtotal 2,020 yen weekdays or 1,820 yen weekends/Japanese public holidays. For this one return with two rides, ordinary fares of 480 yen cost less than the 820/620-yen pass. A lowest-cost comparison including facility benefits is separate; none are applied here.
Kaiyukan and Namba Parks garden
Spend day 1's afternoon with marine life and day 2 in Namba Parks garden. Choose this route for a longer aquarium visit and a departure-day break in a garden near the station.
Day 1 | Lunch before entering the aquarium
Give the aquarium your first afternoon. Eat lunch in Namba, then travel to Tempozan for your reserved entry time.
- Namba → Hommachi
After lunch in Namba, take a northbound Midosuji Line train to Hommachi.
- Hommachi → Osakako
At Hommachi, transfer to the Chuo Line towards Cosmosquare and Yumeshima and get off at Osakako. Search the route from Namba via Hommachi to Osakako for your date. Leave time for station transfers and entry queues to reach the aquarium for your reservation.
- Osakako, exit 1 → Kaiyukan entry and visit
From Osakako exit 1, follow signs towards Tempozan Marketplace and the large Ferris wheel for about 5 minutes on foot. Allow for ticket checks and entry queues, then enter at your reserved time. Official school-group material gives 90–120 minutes for one circuit, excluding waits, meals and personal breaks. For longer animal viewing, reduce other visits afterwards.
- Kaiyukan visit → Rest in Tempozan
You cannot leave for a meal during your visit and re-enter. Eat lunch before admission; afterwards, we suggest a 30–40-minute break in Tempozan. Ferris wheel, cruises and LEGOLAND are excluded from this itinerary and budget. For another paid facility, first check remaining time and separate tickets.
- Kaiyukan → Osakako, Hommachi and Namba
Retrace your walk to Osakako and take the Chuo Line towards Nagata and Ikoma. At Hommachi, transfer to the Midosuji Line towards Tennoji and Nakamozu for Namba. Return to your hotel and eat dinner. If staying longer in Tempozan, check return services on the same route in the official journey search.
- Tickets and arrival conditions → Adjusting the visit
Do not choose an early ticket without allowing for arrival delays. First choose your date's fare, hours and entry time. After a late arrival, stay in Namba on day 1; move the aquarium to day 2 only if enough time remains for the visit and airport travel. Skip the next-day aquarium for a morning flight.
Day 2 | Namba Parks garden from 10:00
- Namba hotel → Parks Garden, floor 2 entrance
From Midosuji Line Namba, follow signs towards Nankai Namba and Namba Parks. Official access gives about 7 minutes from Midosuji Namba; Nankai Namba is connected. Distinguish this from the approximately 15-minute JR Namba walk. Start at the shopping complex's floor 2 garden entrance, shown as ‘2F 緑のエントランスシンボル’ in the official garden guide. Look at floor 2 and your preferred walking floors in the floor guide first.
- Parks Garden → Walk and meal
The garden opens at 10:00; shops and restaurants usually open at 11:00. Walk first, then eat or shop if time remains. You do not need to climb every garden floor from 2 to 9. Rest on floor 3 or choose upper floors for your remaining time. In rain or strong winds, shorten the garden visit and choose indoor meals or shopping after shops open. Follow facility notices for closures and individual business exceptions.
- Namba Parks → Namba Station and departure
After walking and eating, follow facility signs to the Nankai Namba connecting passage or towards Midosuji Line Namba. Finish in time for your reserved airport train or next-city departure. Skip the garden for a morning departure.
Included: Aquarium admission on 8 October 2026 and ordinary Metro Namba–Osakako return
Extra costs and conditions: Flights, accommodation, meals, luggage storage, airport transport, paid tours, shopping, extra facilities and transport on other sections are excluded.
Cost is your visit date's aquarium admission + 580 yen. Ordinary adult Namba–Osakako return fare is 290 yen × 2 = 580 yen; independent Parks Garden visits are free. For an adult aged 16 or above visiting on 8 October 2026, the example is 2,800 + 580 = 3,380 yen. For another date, add 580 yen to its chosen admission price. A day 1 Metro one-day pass makes the same-date example 3,620 yen. For one return with two rides, ordinary fare 580 yen is lower than the weekday 820-yen or weekend/public-holiday 620-yen pass; facility-benefit comparisons are separate. Neither day's basic route uses buses.

Frequently asked questions
After a late arrival, can I move the castle or aquarium to day 2?
Only if enough time remains afterwards for your departure station and flight procedures. Check castle last admission/closures, or date-specific aquarium operations and ticket time. For a morning flight or insufficient time, skip paid visits.
Is a Metro one-day pass cheaper for just a castle or aquarium return?
Ordinary fares cost less for one Namba return to either sight. Checked adult returns: Tanimachi 4-chome 480 yen; Osakako 580 yen. Both are below weekday pass 820 yen or weekend/public-holiday pass 620 yen, without facility benefits. For extra rides, compare all fares and actual benefit conditions again.
