Start with your Osaka hotel base and itinerary
Compare Namba for Dotonbori dinners and Nankai airport trains, or Umeda for views and a Hankyu trip to Minoh. First choose castle, aquarium or walks, then read the itinerary for your trip length.
Castle, aquarium or walks: where should I start?
First choose main-tower exhibitions or time at Kaiyukan. Compare Kuchu Teien for city views, Minoh Falls for longer walks or Mozu Visitor Center for burial-mound structure and history. Give Dotonbori riverside and Parks Garden separate walks.
Itineraries by trip length
Count full sightseeing days between arrival and departure. Choosing castle, aquarium, waterfall or mound exhibitions first helps select a Namba or Umeda base. Open the cards for daily journeys and included admission/transport.
2 days / 1 night
Stay 1 night in Namba. Choose castle/Dotonbori or Kaiyukan on day 1; walk the riverside or Parks Garden on day 2, then return to Namba.
3 days / 2 nights
Choose castle/Umeda deck or time at the aquarium for the middle day. The aquarium route places castle exhibitions on departure morning, so your departure must leave enough time.
4 days / 3 nights
Choose 3 nights in Umeda for waterfall walks or 3 in Namba for Mozu exhibitions and aquarium. Kyoto/Kobe day trips replace an existing sightseeing day.
5 days / 4 nights
Stay 4 nights in Namba and give castle, Mozu and views separate days, or choose aquarium, Minoh and views. For a night in Kyoto/Kobe, reduce Namba nights and decide whether to return the next day.
Where to stay
Namba · 難波
Namba suits dinner in Dotonbori followed by a return to your hotel. For Nankai airport trains, check the arrival station alongside your hotel's address. Nankai Namba, subway Namba and JR Namba do not share platforms.
Umeda · 梅田
Umeda is convenient for shopping around Osaka Station, the observation deck and Hankyu travel to Minoh. A station name alone does not mean your hotel is close to every platform. Compare the actual railway station and exit with your hotel map.

Choose your base, then divide your days
Choose areas to explore together
Namba is a base for separate Dotonbori riverside and Parks Garden walks. Combine Umeda views and station-area meals; give Tempozan time for Kaiyukan. Divide castle, deck and aquarium across days, considering reservations and walking.
Minoh is a walking day from Hankyu Minoh to the falls. Sakai starts with free visitor-centre exhibitions west of Mozu Station, not entry inside a mound. Choose waterfall or exhibitions in place of a city day.

Eat in the neighbourhood you walk
In Namba, distinguish takoyaki snacks from an okonomiyaki meal. For early riverside walks, check when your chosen business opens. On an Umeda day, eat near the station before or after the deck to reduce returns to Namba.
Kaiyukan no longer allows re-entry: eat before or after viewing. Parks Garden opens at 10:00; shops and restaurants usually at 11:00.
Distinguish Metro, Hankyu and JR
From Namba, castle and Kaiyukan trips transfer at Hommachi to opposite Chuo Line directions: Tanimachi 4-chome for the castle, Osakako for aquarium. Umeda deck walking directions differ between Metro Umeda and JR Osaka starting points.
For Minoh, take Hankyu from Osaka-umeda via Ishibashi handai-mae and transfer to the Minoh Line. For Sakai, change from Metro Tennoji to JR Hanwa and choose a train stopping at Mozu. Metro one-day passes do not include Hankyu/JR fares. Immigration, luggage collection and hotel-to-platform walks are excluded from train riding times. Allow separately for reaching your airport-train platform and completing flight procedures.
If leaving luggage at your hotel on departure day, allow time to collect it. Fit final sightseeing around reaching your departure station or airport afterwards.

Compare JR passes by actual sections and dates
If mainly using city subway and Hankyu to Minoh, you do not need to start by buying a JR pass. Itinerary costs exclude JR pass prices. For JR to Kyoto or Kobe, compare ordinary return fares and valid pass dates. Calculate access to JR Osaka and destination-station-to-sight transport separately.
WEST QR Mini covers ordinary trains on eligible sections for 3 consecutive days. Limited expresses such as Haruka require separate supplements; Shinkansen requires a new base-fare ticket. For Area, check chosen consecutive days and coverage, distinguishing Shinkansen. Wide lasts 5 consecutive days and includes Sanyo Shinkansen Shin-Osaka–Okayama, but excludes Tokaido Shinkansen Kyoto–Shin-Osaka. Check foreign passport/Temporary Visitor eligibility, validity start, seat and exchange procedures for each product. These do not include all accommodation, admission, private railways and city buses.

Divide city and regional visits from Namba or Umeda
Consider your evening neighbourhood alongside tomorrow's railway. Even with one city hotel, Minoh and Sakai use different routes.
Namba: riverside and garden days
Give Dotonbori riverside and Parks Garden separate walks, with meals in Namba/Dotonbori. Garden and restaurant opening times differ; an early walk may not lead straight to a meal.
Umeda: views and Minoh days
The deck is reached on foot from the station; Minoh needs Hankyu transfers and a waterfall walk. Distinguish JR Osaka from Hankyu Osaka-umeda when leaving your hotel.

Sakai: exhibitions rather than mound interiors
Start with free visitor-centre exhibitions west of Mozu Station. You cannot enter the Nintoku Emperor's Mausoleum. From Namba, transfer at Tennoji to JR Hanwa and choose a train stopping at Mozu.

Transfer at Ishibashi handai-mae to the Minoh Line. Get off at Minoh and walk to the falls.
Allow for walking back to the station and transfers towards Umeda.

Compare admission totals separately from transport passes
Even on a longer trip, cost cards are not a total budget. Add accommodation, meals, airports and city transport excluded from the card.
Mainly Metro, or Hankyu and JR too?
Calculate Namba-to-castle/aquarium days separately from Minoh/Mozu days. Metro one-day passes exclude Hankyu Minoh returns and JR Tennoji–Mozu. See each itinerary for specified transport and exclusions.
If visiting Kyoto or Kobe
Compare ordinary JR returns with passes valid on your actual travel days. Do not include city Metro, Hankyu, admission or accommodation in the JR pass price. Day trips and local overnights can use different outward/return dates.
