Four nights: how will you split the two-city stay?

For Kinomiya too, split one Shizuoka night and three Atami nights; for more city art, split two in each. Both visit Nihondaira/Toshogu and Atami’s Kiunkaku, MOA and coast. After checking exhibitions and closures, match moving-day Kodama arrival with Kiunkaku’s admission deadline.

Kunozan Toshogu, Atami architecture, art, shrine and coast

Split one night in Shizuoka and three in Atami for Nihondaira views, Kunozan Toshogu, Kiunkaku, MOA, Kinomiya Shrine and the coast. On your hotel-moving day, allow time after Kodama arrival to walk to Kiunkaku before last admission.

Day 1: Shizuoka Station → Nihondaira and Kunozan Toshogu → Shizuoka hotel

This route starts from Shizuoka Station in the morning for Nihondaira and Kunozan Toshogu on day one. If arriving late in the afternoon, omit the shrine return trip or move it to another sightseeing day.

  1. Shizuoka Station bus stop → Nihondaira Ropeway bus terminus

Choose a bus reaching the Nihondaira Ropeway terminus. In your date’s weekday or weekend/public-holiday timetable, check both the summit-bound and Shizuoka Station-bound returns. After reaching the summit, allow time for the ropeway, shrine and viewpoints.

  2. Nihondaira Ropeway Station → Kunozan Station and Toshogu

Buy a return ropeway ticket and descend to Kunozan Station. After the approximately five-minute ride, climb about 80 steps to the shrine buildings. Ticketing, waiting and stairs are additional to ride time. If stairs would be difficult or wind suspends the ropeway, omit the shrine and focus on terrace views.

Frequently asked questions

Should I add the city art museum or Kinomiya Shrine?

Choose Kinomiya for the large camphor tree and grounds walks, or Shizuoka City Museum of Art for more indoor paintings. Adding the shrine uses one Shizuoka night and three Atami nights; adding city art uses two in each city. Renoir runs only 22 September–15 November 2026, with 1,600-yen same-day general admission. For other dates, choose after checking exhibitions and admission.
