How to get to downtown Hiroshima from Hiroshima Airport

If you are staying near Hiroshima Station, take a bus to Hiroshima Station. If you are staying near Kamiyacho or the Atomic Bomb Dome, take a bus to Hiroshima Bus Center. Both routes cost 1,500 yen one way for adults. The station-bound bus arrives on the north side of Hiroshima Station, and the bus route towards the Bus Center arrives on the 3rd floor of Sogo Department Store, so you can choose the drop-off point closest to your accommodation.

Hiroshima Airport · 広島空港 (HIJ) is located far from the city center and there is no railway station within the terminal. The bus ride to Hiroshima Station takes about 50 minutes, and about 55 minutes to the bus center via Nakasuji. International immigration, baggage, customs, and boarding waiting must be added separately.

Official data confirmation date · City limousine bus timetable October 1-24, 2026 All times applied are Japan Time (JST). If you are traveling after that, please check the new timetable before departure.

  1. International and domestic arrivals are on the first floor. After international arrivals and customs, follow bus signs. Terminal works have temporarily moved some facilities; use the current floor map rather than an older photo. Current first floor guide map
  2. Check the bus destination and bus stop number first. In the official bus stop information, number 1 is for Bus Center via Nakasuji, number 2 is for Hiroshima Station Shinkansen Exit, number 4 is for Shiraichi/Saijō Station, and number 5 is for taxi. The bus to the center departing at 09:30, 13:05, and 18:15 passes through Hiroshima Station, so you must take number 2. Even though they are bound for the same bus center, these three buses do not stop at Nakasuji. Official boarding point information
  3. Please prepare a cash ticket or support card/digital ticket. Cash users purchase a ticket appropriate for their destination at the ticket machine in the first floor lobby. The one-way ticket to the station or bus center is 1,500 yen for adults and 750 yen for children. You can compare ticket machine credit card payment, supported transit IC, supported card touch payment and MOBIRY TRAVEL digital ticket. Suica, ICOCA, etc. can be used, but PiTaPa is not accepted for Hiroden and Geiyo services. IC charging is not possible on these two companies' buses, so fill up the balance in advance. Ticket machine in the first floor lobby
  4. Leave your luggage and look at the destination in front of the bus. Limousine buses have unreserved seats and if they are full, you must check the next bus. Place the suitcase in the trunk according to the driver's instructions, and carry valuables, breakable items, and mobile batteries with you. For large or special baggage, check the operator's baggage regulations first. When you arrive, collect your luggage and then go to the station entrance or bus center exit. Check whether your accommodation at Hiroshima Station is north or south.

Buses to Hiroshima Station · 広島駅 arrive at the drop-off area at the North Shinkansen Exit (新幹線口). If it is a hotel in the north, pick up your luggage and move towards the accommodation address.

For lodgings in the south and in front of the station, you must go from the north to the south through the free passageway of the station. If you consider the north and south exits of the station as the same exit, you can go back with your luggage.

Hiroden trams now depart from the second floor of the south station building. Check the passage connecting JR and the North Exit on the official Hiroden station and boarding area guide map, which has changed since opening in August 2025. Don't follow the pictures of the old overground train platform outside. For large luggage, use the elevator on the information map and move in the direction of ‘路面電車/Tram’ on the sign. Hiroden official station and boarding point guide map

If you are going to an accommodation near Kamiyacho or the Atomic Bomb Dome, compare the Miyajimaguchi/Nishihiroshima direction on Line 2 or the Eba direction on Line 6. Don't mistake lines 1 and 5 for going to the Atomic Bomb Dome. The regular cash/support IC fare is 240 yen for adults on all trains, so choose the stop closest to your accommodation first. Simply compare your destination with the boarding/disembarking/payment information and the station departure timetable. If you are around Kamiyacho, start by getting off at the bus center.

Hiroshima Bus Center · 広島バスセンター is a terminal on the 3rd floor of the Sogo Hiroshima branch. For a hotel in Kamiyacho · 紙屋町, or a visit to the Atomic Bomb Dome or northern part of the park, compare this arrival stop with a bus to Hiroshima Station followed by a tram. ‘Bus Center’ does not refer to the bus stop in front of Hiroshima Station.

After picking up your luggage, go to the ground level following the passage/elevator signs at the disembarkation area on the terminal guide map on the 3rd floor. Platform number 2 back to the airport is the departure location, so don't assume that the arriving bus will necessarily stop at that number. If your accommodation is near Hondori or Hatchobori, enter your address to check the walking route from the drop-off point to your destination. Don’t start walking towards the Atomic Bomb Dome just by looking at the name of the accommodation. 3rd floor terminal guide map

The official walking guide from Bus Center → Atomic Bomb Dome is about 5 minutes. Consider this time based on ground travel, and add the time to come down from the 3rd floor, crosswalk, and luggage movement separately. Bus Center → Atomic Bomb Dome Walking Directions

Cross the bridge from the Atomic Bomb Dome to Peace Memorial Park

The Atomic Bomb Dome · 原爆ドーム and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park · 平和記念公園 are different locations. If you walk southwest from the bus center, you will first approach the Atomic Bomb Dome. According to Hiroshima City guidelines, the dome is viewed from outside the enclosure and is not allowed inside. Hiroshima City Information

You can enter the northeastern part of the park by crossing the Motoyasu Bridge · 元安橋 on the south side of the dome. Move further south along the trail to the cenotaph and Peace Memorial Museum in the park. Official city information is that it takes about 10 minutes from the bus center to the park, but the final section varies depending on the facility to be visited. Use the park's official map to identify cenotaphs and museums. Park official map

If you take the train from the station, get off at the Genbaku-dome-mae · 原爆ドーム前 stop and walk toward the dome. This is a different stop from the railway station, JR Hiroshima Station. In front of the Atomic Bomb Dome → Park Memorial Monument Walking Directions

There is also an alternative to transfer to JR at Shiraichi Station.

Shiraichi Station · 白市駅 is a JR Sanyo Main Line station outside the airport terminal. Take the Geiyo Bus from No. 4 outside the first floor and get off at Shiraichi Station, then transfer to the JR toward Hiroshima/Iwakuni. Check your destination to make sure you don't take the opposite direction, Mihara/Fukuyama.

Bus tickets can be purchased separately at the airport ticket machine, and JR tickets can be purchased separately at the station.

Adult bus 490 yen + JR local train 860 yen = 1,350 yen. The bus takes about 13 to 14 minutes based on the current route chart, and the train according to the airport connection table takes about 45 to 48 minutes to Hiroshima.

In addition to the on-board journey time for buses and trains, the time to collect luggage from the bus and walk to the station, moving to the ticket gate and platform, and waiting time for the train are added. Buses run as follows: 09:05 → 09:19, 10:00 → 10:13, and there is also a time slot after 12:15 at 14:15, so it should not be thought of as a constant short interval.

Geiyo’s 29 March 2026 timetable separates the weekday 07:20 service from weekend/holiday departures. One published connection is airport 10:00 → Shiraichi 10:13, train 10:27 → Hiroshima 11:12. That is 72 minutes including a 14-minute transfer wait. Delays can break the connection; compare it with the direct bus for your date. Revised table on March 29, 2026 · JR connection table

The Shiraichi bus may not have a limousine-style luggage compartment. Check luggage, cash/IC payment and child-fare conditions with Geiyo. Its last bus and the last onward JR train are separate departures. Guide to using Geiyo

To get to Miyajima, you need to get off at the station and transfer to the ferry.

  1. Get off at the north side of Hiroshima Station by airport bus. Pick up your luggage and go to the JR conventional line ticket gate. This is not a route to take the Shinkansen.
  2. Take the JR Sanyo Main Line towards Iwakuni. Get off at JR Miyajimaguchi Station · 宮島口駅. The ferry operator's access information indicates that it takes about 28 minutes from Hiroshima Station to Miyajimaguchi Station. For JR local trains, adults pay 420 yen separately from the airport bus. Ferry operator access information
  3. Go to the Miyajimaguchi Ferry Terminal in front of the station. Allow about 5 minutes on foot from the JR station exit to the seaside terminal, plus waiting for baggage, signals, and ticketing. The official directions are to go through the underpass under the national highway. If stairs are too much for you, check out the official route for using the elevator. Hiroden Miyajimaguchi · Hiroden-miyajima-guchi · 広電宮島口 is a separate train terminus and is not on the same platform as JR Station. Official travel route using elevators out
  4. Check the ferry ticket and cross to Miyajima Island. The fares and last ferry on this page are based on JR Miyajima Ferry. Buy or pay for your ferry fare at the counter, ticket machine or with a supported IC card. The crossing takes about 10 minutes. It is 200 yen for adults plus 100 yen visit tax upon entry, making it 300 yen. The combined cost of the airport bus and JR train is 2,220 yen, and not all sections are included in the airport bus ticket. Do not mix timetables with other ferry companies.

When you arrive on Miyajima · 宮島, check the remaining walking and transportation from the island's ferry terminal to your accommodation. If you have a lot of luggage or are arriving late, check with your accommodation in advance about check-in deadlines and whether they accept shuttle service. When going from Hiroshima Station towards Kamiyacho and Atomic Bomb Dome

The Hiroden Station departure table (revised on March 28, 2026) shows the last departure at 22:33 for Line 6 towards Eba and at 23:09 for Line 2 towards Hatsukaichi on all weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. Line 2 23:09 does not go to Miyajimaguchi. Even if you pass through the Atomic Bomb Dome/Kamiyacho section, you must check the destination stop and notices for the day's operation. The last airport bus arrives at 22:45, too late for the 22:33 tram. For a later tram, allow time to collect luggage at the north-side bus stop and reach the second-floor tram platforms.

How to get to Miyajima Island accommodation on the same day

Under JR Miyajima Ferry’s regular timetable, the last sailing from Miyajimaguchi to the island is 22:42; the last return sailing from the island is 22:14. There is a separate table for peak season and year-end and New Year holidays, so please check the operation calendar for your travel date. The last airport-to-city bus arrives at 22:45, after the 22:42 ferry has departed, so these services cannot connect. Even if the last JR train is late, it doesn't mean you can get to the island. Regular ferry timetable

The checked 5 October 2026 JR timetable lists the last Hiroshima–Miyajimaguchi train as 00:04 → 00:31 next day, after ferries finish. Earlier services are 22:00 → 22:27 and 22:20 → 22:47. Only 15 minutes separate the 22:27 arrival from the 22:42 ferry for walking, ticketing and boarding, so the connection is not guaranteed. Choose an earlier train with luggage and recheck your date. JR official timetable for October 5, 2026

Tram line 2’s last Hiroshima departure to Miyajimaguchi is 22:31, too late for the 22:42 ferry. Check the last island ferry separately from the last train or tram.

Using Shiraichi for a late connection

In Geiyo’s current timetable, the last bus leaves the airport at 21:50 and reaches Shiraichi at 22:03. Please check separately by date whether it connects from Shiraichi to JR. The airport connection table shows an example of transferring from this bus to a train at 22:11 and arriving in Hiroshima at 22:56, but connection is not guaranteed in case of flight, bus, or train delays.

If the airport bus has finished, please inquire about dispatch at the official taxi stand number 5 outside the first floor or at the reservation office. Just inform the accommodation of your delayed arrival and show them your exact address. Once you arrive in the city center, check the remaining walking distance and hotel entrance access and check-in hours. If there is a delay due to heavy rain, fog, or traffic control, check the airport traffic status, JR service notices, Hiroden service notices, and highway control information. Airport traffic conditions · JR operation notice · Hiroden operation notice · Highway control information

Compare separate costs for taxis, reserved vehicles, and rental cars.

On-site taxi number 5 is outside the first floor of the airport. The reserved flat rate is not automatically applied to regular metered taxis. Check the vehicle type, luggage storage space, and toll road/night costs before getting on the car.

Daiichi Kotsu's official reservation flat rate table is 16,000 yen for Airport → Higashi Ward, 18,000 yen for Minami Ward, and 17,000 yen for Naka Ward. Toll road costs are separate, and the reservation fee is the same both late at night and early in the morning. The north of the station is Higashi Ward, the south of the station is Minami Ward, and the area around the Bus Center and Atomic Bomb Dome is Naka Ward, but you must check the actual accommodation address and applicable area with the reservation office. Conditions vary depending on transit point, vehicle type, and availability. These booked flat fares do not apply automatically to every taxi at the airport rank. The rental car counter has been moved to RENT-A-Car.Port のりんちゃい instead of the previous 1st floor lobby. According to the airport's official handover information, it is about a 3-minute walk past the pedestrian bridge connecting the second floor of the terminal. Take the elevator in the arrival hall to the 2nd floor and find the counter of the company you reserved. In case of international flight delays, check with the company for pick-up deadline, license/payment documents, and luggage space for each vehicle type. Parking and toll fees for city accommodation are calculated separately from vehicle fees. Airport official handover information

Getting around Hiroshima Airport, Frequently asked questions

How do I get from Hiroshima Airport to the city?

For hotels near Hiroshima Station, take the airport limousine bus from No. 2 to the station's Shinkansen exit, and for hotels near Kamiyacho/Bus Center, take the limousine bus from No. 1 to the bus center. One-way fare for adults is 1,500 yen, and the ride takes approximately 50 minutes to the station and 55 minutes to the bus center via Nakasuji. Immigration, baggage claim, and waiting are separate.

Should I take the bus bound for Hiroshima Station or Bus Center?

The station bus arrives at Hiroshima Station’s north-side Shinkansen Exit; the Bus Center route arrives on Sogo’s third floor, closer to Kamiyacho, the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park. The 09:30, 13:05 and 18:15 Bus Center departures run via Hiroshima Station and leave airport stop 2, unlike the usual Bus Center route from stop 1.

Can I take the train directly from the airport?

There is no railway station in the terminal. An alternative is to take the Geiyo Bus from No. 4 to Shiraichi Station for 490 yen and transfer to the JR Sanyo Main Line toward Hiroshima. Adding 860 yen for a local train costs 1,350 yen one way for an adult, and bus and train tickets are purchased separately. Buses take about 13-14 minutes, trains take about 45-48 minutes, plus transfers and waiting, so they are not always faster than direct buses.

Is reservation required for the airport bus?

Hiroshima Station and Bus Center limousine buses have unreserved seats. An advance digital ticket does not guarantee a seat; if the bus is full, check the next departure. Wheelchair-accessible seats require a separate advance telephone reservation. Shared taxis to Miyajimaguchi require advance online booking.

How do I get to the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park?

From the Bus Center’s third floor, descend to street level and walk southwest to the Atomic Bomb Dome. Official city guidance gives about 5 minutes, excluding lift waiting and luggage. Cross Motoyasu Bridge towards the park’s northeast. From Hiroshima Station, take tram 2 or 6 from the second-floor Hiroden platforms to Genbaku Dome-mae and walk.

How do I get from the airport to Miyajima?

Take the bus to Hiroshima Station → JR Sanyo Main Line towards Iwakuni → JR Miyajimaguchi Station → Ferry Terminal → Miyajima. Adding 1,500 yen for the airport bus, 420 yen for the JR local train, 200 yen for the JR ferry, and 100 yen for the arrival tax, the adult one-way fare is 2,220 yen. Waiting for station/ferry transfers is separate. You can also compare reserved shared taxis to Miyajimaguchi during the day.

What do I do if my flight is late or I miss the last train?

The 1–24 October 2026 timetable gives the last station bus as 21:55 and last Bus Center bus as 21:50. Departures may adjust to arrivals, but boarding after every delayed flight is not guaranteed. If buses have ended, ask at first-floor taxi stand 5 or your booked operator and tell your hotel about the delay. A late city arrival does not establish a connection with the final Miyajima ferry.
