Leisurely Arashiyama garden walks
Buy garden admission and walk Tenryu-ji's garden. You can choose garden-only viewing without entering buildings.
Separate Dharma Hall Cloud Dragon viewing
The Dharma Hall opens for its Cloud Dragon painting on weekends, public holidays and designated periods. Admission is separate from garden/building tickets.

How to get to Tenryu-ji
From Kyoto Station, take JR Sagano to Saga-Arashiyama and walk about 13 minutes. The walk from Randen Arashiyama takes about 5 minutes; from Hankyu Arashiyama, about 15. Stations sharing Arashiyama's name are in different places.
Before you visit
Building and hall admission ends earlier than garden admission
Building admission ends at 16:30, and Cloud Dragon admission ends at 16:20. Arriving for garden admission's 16:50 deadline leaves little chance for other areas; arrive earlier for buildings/hall too.

Building and Dharma Hall closure dates
Building closures include after 12:30 on 1 April 2026 and 29–30 October. Cloud Dragon closures include 28–30 October 2026 and 2 January 2027. Events/services can change these; check date-specific notices. Check garden operations separately even when buildings/hall close.
