Admission
Permanent exhibition admission for ages 18+ is 500 yen general or 250 for university students, who must present student ID. High-school students and younger visitors, or anyone under 18, enter free with proof. Special exhibitions cost extra.
Opening hours
Second-/third-floor exhibition rooms and the children’s activity area open 09:00–17:00, with ticket sales until 16:30. The first floor opens 09:00–21:00. Plan exhibition visits around exhibition hours, not the first floor’s later closure.

Leave Matsumoto Station by the east exit and walk about 15 minutes to the museum. The official access map shows its position and the route towards the castle.
Before you visit
Tuesday closures differ by floor
Second-/third-floor exhibition rooms and the children’s activity area close every Tuesday; the first floor closes the third Tuesday each month. Public-holiday closures move to the next weekday. The whole museum closes 29 December–3 January. Check temporary-closure notices before visiting too.
