  • Getting thereGet off City Loop at Port Tower stop 17 and go to the ground-floor ticket/information desk. Rooftop access is stairs only from observation floor 5. It may open in rain but umbrellas are prohibited; rain/strong winds can close it without notice. Check same-day notices.

Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens & Ropeway神戸布引ハーブ園/ロープウェイ

Choose Nunobiki for hilltop walks among flowers and herbs. Take the ropeway for gardens that change with the seasons. Standard return tickets include garden admission. For garden walks, distinguish daytime areas from the limited areas open at night.

  • AdmissionStandard returns revised 1 April 2026 cost adults 2,500 yen and elementary/junior high school pupils 1,250, including ropeway and garden admission. Christmas prices are separate.
  • HoursWeekdays 4 September–6 November 2026: ascent 09:30–16:45, last descent 17:15. The garden opens 10:00–17:00, last entry 16:30. Weekend/public-holiday evening visits have limited areas.
  • Getting thereWalk about 5 minutes from Shin-Kobe to the lower station, then ride about 10 minutes to the top. Waiting is extra; strong winds/lightning can suspend service.

Choose Himeji Castle for a closer look inside its tower, with slopes and stairs requiring more walking effort than harbour strolls.

  • AdmissionOrdinary admission for ages 18 and above is 2,500 yen, resident rate 1,000 and Koko-en combined ticket 2,600. Do not apply resident rates to visitors. Check official under-18 and school-year-boundary exemptions.
  • Hours09:00–17:00, last entry 16:00. Closed 29–30 December.
  • Getting thereTake JR Special Rapid from Sannomiya towards Himeji/Aboshi/Banshu-Ako for about 40 minutes aboard, then walk about 20 minutes from Himeji Station. Station access/waits are extra. The tower has stairs/slopes and no lift.

好古園

Koko-en has 9 distinct gardens, including pond and tea gardens. Walk beside ponds for Japanese garden views. Choose the combined ticket for Himeji Castle too, or Koko-en-only admission for just the gardens.

  • AdmissionOrdinary admission for ages 18 and above: garden-only 400 yen, Himeji Castle combined ticket 2,600. Free through the end of the school year in which you turn 18.

  • Getting thereOfficial JR Himeji-to-garden walking guidance gives about 15 minutes. Use Koko-en's separate walled entrance west of the castle, distinct from castle paid-area admission. Do not apply station-to-garden time to a castle starting point.

Arima Kin no Yu

Kin no Yu金の湯

Kin no Yu is a public bath with Arima's brown kinsen water. You can visit without staying at a hot-spring hotel. Full bathing costs admission; the footbath beside it is free. Choose bathing or just the footbath, then check closures and returns to Kobe.

  • AdmissionAdult weekdays 650 yen, other dates 800. New Year, Golden Week, Obon and other peak dates are excluded from weekday rates. Elementary/junior high school pupils 350 yen.
  • Hours08:00–22:00, last admission 21:30. Closed the second/fourth Tuesday monthly, or the following day if a public holiday, and 1 January.
  • Getting thereChange from subway at Tanigami to Kobe Electric Railway, then at Arimaguchi for Arima Onsen. The April 2023 facility leaflet gives about 5 minutes from the railway station, distinct from the ropeway station. Recheck date-specific operations and actual transfers.

Is there a lift to Port Tower's rooftop?

No. Rooftop access is stairs only from observation floor 5. Consider deck-only admission if stairs are difficult.

Do evening herb-garden visits cover the same gardens?

No. Evening visits do not cover all daytime areas, and hours vary by season/day. For daytime gardens, check last ascent, garden admission and final descent together for your date.
