Where should I stay in Kanagawa?
Choose Yokohama for harbour visits and meals; for temples and Enoshima, compare Kamakura and Fujisawa. For a Hakone night and museum visit, compare Yumoto and Gora accommodation; Gora requires a further mountain railway ride from Yumoto. With an early flight, decide whether to spend the final night in Hakone or move towards the airport first.
Yokohama and Kamakura are separate cities in Kanagawa Prefecture. Enoshima is in Fujisawa City and Hakone in Hakone Town. To visit all four, also compare courses that change accommodation.
Harbour, garden, temples, island or art museum?
Compare Yokohama for ship and harbour exhibits, Hasedera and Kotokuin for temple worship and Enoshima for island views. Choose Sankeien for a garden or Hakone Open-Air Museum for sculptures in mountain scenery. Each uses different stations and journeys; check fees, admission deadlines and walks first.
Itineraries by trip length
Compare staying in Yokohama for the harbour and nearby day trips with moving to Fujisawa or Hakone. Each course shows transfers, walks, viewing and return sequences by day.
2 days / 1 night
Course A chooses Yokohama’s harbour and garden; B gives Kamakura temples and Enoshima a day each.
3 days / 2 nights
Course A stays in Yokohama for separate harbour and temple days; B gives Yumoto two nights for history and art museums.
4 days / 3 nights
Course A makes separate temple and island day trips from Yokohama; B moves to Hakone for a later one-night stay.
5 days / 4 nights
Course A returns to Yokohama for the final night after a Hakone night; B stays three Fujisawa nights.
Where should I stay for convenient travel?
Yokohama Station
Choose this for trains between cities or a Kamakura day trip.
Check the destination station separately for harbour visits. Minatomirai and Motomachi-Chukagai are separate stations on the Minatomirai Line, distinct from Yokohama Station.
Sakuragicho and Minatomirai
Compare accommodation around Sakuragicho and Minatomirai for several days walking around Nippon Maru and the harbour.
JR Sakuragicho and Minatomirai Line stations differ. Check the walk from your hotel address to your chosen station, then plan your return after meals using that station.

Gora
This suits the Open-Air Museum and a stay in the mountains.
It requires a further mountain railway ride from Yumoto. To reduce departure-day travel from Hakone, move towards Yokohama the previous day.

Calculate Enoden routes separately for each day
The adult day pass costs 800 yen and is valid only on its issue date. Return fares: Kamakura–Hase 400 yen, Kamakura–Enoshima 520 yen, Fujisawa–Hase 620 yen and Fujisawa–Enoshima 440 yen. One day pass cannot cover return journeys on two dates. Decide whether you will make only the listed returns or stop elsewhere, then compare each day. JR, Keikyu, Hakone Tozan Line and admission are excluded.
Compare Hakone Freepass by starting station and actual journeys
Adult two-day passes cost 7,100 yen from Shinjuku or 6,000 yen from Odawara. They cover designated Hakone transport, with one Odakyu return between your starting station and Odawara. JR Yokohama–Odawara, airport trains, Romancecar supplements and Open-Air Museum admission cost extra. This course excludes the lake and ropeway. Two-night course B’s Odawara return and Yumoto–museum–Gora–Yumoto ordinary rail total 1,800 yen, below the 6,000-yen Odawara pass. Compare ordinary tickets if using only those sections. For extra hotel buses, check whether the route is covered and confirm actual fares.

Plan your Hakone stay alongside departure travel
On arrival day, travel from the airport to your base station, then choose sightseeing around arrival time. Hotel dinner deadlines, bathing hours, shuttles and luggage storage depend on your booking; ask before choosing an itinerary. On departure day, allow separately for luggage collection, station access, train waits, transfers and rides, terminal travel and airport procedures. From Hakone, also allow the descent to Odawara. For a morning flight, move the previous day to a city with airport access and omit final-day sightseeing. Courses suggest a visiting order; choose actual departure times using services for your date and booking conditions.

Costs are for one adult using Open-Air Museum same-day admission and individual Enoden fares. Days using both Enoshima’s tower and Escar include the 1,100-yen daytime set. On event days, the course leaves the garden before 17:00; evening garden charges are extra. JR, Minatomirai Line, airport travel, station–hotel access, meals, accommodation, separate hot-spring bathing, Buddha interior and extra activities are excluded. Courses visiting Nippon Maru and the museum on separate days use individual 400-yen and 500-yen tickets; the 800-yen same-day combined ticket cannot be split across two dates. Fujisawa–Tsujido JR fares are separate from the free ukiyo-e exhibition. Prices were checked on October 8, 2026.
Admission and transport included in course subtotals →Compare Enoden tickets for each visit day
The Noriorikun day pass costs 800 yen adults or 400 yen children and covers all Enoden lines on its issue date. One-night course B totals 920 yen for Kamakura–Hase return 400 yen and next-day Kamakura–Enoshima return 520 yen, 680 yen less than two separate 800-yen day passes. Adult singles: Kamakura–Hase 200 yen, Fujisawa–Hase 310 yen and Fujisawa–Enoshima 220 yen; returns 400, 620 and 440 yen respectively. If making only those return trips, individual fares cost less than the day pass. Admission, JR and airport travel are separate. Prices were checked on October 8, 2026.

Adult two-day passes cost 7,100 yen from Shinjuku or 6,000 yen from Odawara. If taking JR from Yokohama to Odawara, compare the Odawara product with individual fares. JR Yokohama–Odawara, Romancecar limited express charges and museum admission cost extra; designated local transport and discounts follow the official coverage table. A pass is not necessarily cheaper for just a museum return trip. Prices were checked on October 8, 2026.
Compare Hakone Freepass starting stations and routes →Hakone Tozan Line and Sankeien bus fares
Adult singles cost 360 yen Odawara–Yumoto and 460 yen Yumoto–Chokoku-no-Mori. A museum return from Yumoto costs 920 yen. Adding Gora as in two-night course B adds Chokoku-no-Mori–Gora 160 yen and Gora–Yumoto 460 yen, giving 1,080 yen that day. Museum admission, hotel access and JR cost extra. Yokohama municipal buses cost 220 yen adults, cash or IC; board at the front and pay first. Two Sankeien rides total 440 yen. Prices were checked on October 8, 2026.

Kanagawa Prefecture · 神奈川県
Choose Yokohama for harbour and ship visits, Kamakura for temples and the Great Buddha, or Enoshima for island sea views. Add separate mountain railway time for Hakone’s museum and hot-spring accommodation. Your return route differs depending on whether you stay throughout in Yokohama or move to Hakone.
Sakuragicho · 桜木町: harbour ship and exhibitions
Walk from Sakuragicho Station to Nippon Maru and the port museum. Choose the ship for its interior or the museum for harbour history. Same-day combined admission differs from individual tickets on separate dates. After a late arrival, choose waterfront walking or meals rather than rushing indoor admission deadlines.

Sankeien: garden walking on a separate harbour day
Allow a separate half-day for Sankeien’s garden and historic buildings. Take a bus from Yokohama’s east exit, then walk from the stop to the main gate. It is not beside the harbour waterfront, so you need not fit it and the ship into a short arrival day. Allow both bus and walking returns to Yokohama.
Hase · 長谷: walk between two temples
Take Enoden from Kamakura or Fujisawa to Hase and walk between Hasedera and Kotokuin. Admission is separate, and Hasedera involves steps up and down. After the Great Buddha, eat around Hase Station and return. Adding Hakone’s mountains the same day reduces temple time.

Enoshima · 江の島: island views and daytime garden
Give Enoshima’s sea views and island walks a separate day from the temples. From Enoden Enoshima Station, cross the bridge, follow Nakamise Street and ascend island slopes to Sea Candle. Escar runs uphill only; allow walking time downhill. The daytime garden is free, the tower is paid, and event-day evening garden admission is separate.
Tsujido · 辻堂: free woodblock print exhibits
Visit Tsujido’s ukiyo-e museum for prints of Fujisawa and Enoshima. Walk about five minutes from JR Tsujido’s north exit to floor seven of Cocoterrace Shonan. Exhibition admission is free; Fujisawa–Tsujido JR fares cost extra. As an indoor visit distinct from temples and island views, it can have its own arrival-day slot, as in four-night course B.
Hakone-Yumoto · 箱根湯本: hot-spring stays and the museum
Use Yumoto for hot-spring accommodation, history exhibits and outdoor sculpture. Separating the history museum and art museum across days leaves viewing and resting time. The art museum and Gora require further mountain railway travel. Compare two Yumoto nights in two-night course B with one night and a return to Yokohama before departure in four-night course A. For a morning flight, descend the previous day for a final night somewhere with easier airport access.

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit Kamakura temples and the Hakone museum on the same day?
Give each area a day for unhurried temple and museum visits. In Kamakura, walk between Hasedera and the Great Buddha; in Hakone, travel further from Yumoto by mountain railway to the museum. Combining them reduces viewing time because of travel between areas.
