Two Kawaguchiko nights: viewpoint or exhibitions?

Stay two nights, separating north-shore walks and indoor displays. For high Fuji views, ride day-one afternoon and walk Oishi on day two. For Fuji displays and lake-level scenery, visit the north shore on day-one morning and the center/Appare on day two.

Use the Red Line for north-shore returns and the Blue Line for the center, returning via Kawaguchiko Station before the pier. Both options finish at the Gem Museum.

Ropeway viewpoint, north-shore park and Gem Museum

Visit the viewpoint on day one, then north-shore walks and lunch on day two. Stay two nights at the same Kawaguchiko hotel and finish with gem exhibitions before departing.

Day 1: Kawaguchiko Station → lakeside → hotel near the station

  1. Kawaguchiko Station → Lakeside

Arrive around noon and have lunch near Kawaguchiko Station. Walk about 15 minutes to Lakeside Station for the ropeway in the afternoon. Check final upward/downward rides and queues, allowing a timely descent. If suspended or queues are long, choose a lakeside walk instead.

Strong winds or inspections can suspend the ropeway. Check last upward/downward services and suspension notices for your date.

Day 2: Kawaguchiko Station → Oishi Park → Kawaguchiko Station

  1. Kawaguchiko Station → Oishi Park

Take the Red Line towards the Natural Living Center from Kawaguchiko Station stand 1. Alight at the terminus, walk through Oishi Park and have lunch/rest on the north shore. Check date-specific services and station-bound returns in the official two-way timetable.

  2. Oishi Park → Kawaguchiko Station and hotel

After park walks and lunch, take the Red Line from the station-bound Natural Living Center stop. If rain is heavy or views poor, shorten the park visit and check an earlier return. Spend the second night at the same hotel near the station.

Day 3: Kawaguchiko Station → Yamanashi Gem Museum → Kawaguchiko Station

  1. Kawaguchiko Station → Yamanashi Gem Museum

From Kawaguchiko Station stand 1, take the Red Line towards Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center. Read station departure and arrival at stop 6, Yamanashi Gem Museum/Kawaguchiko, together in your date’s timetable, and choose a station-bound return. 2. Facility entrance → Mineral and gem exhibitions

  3. Yamanashi Gem Museum → Return to station and hotel

See gems and minerals in the morning, after day-one views and day-two north-shore walks. Have lunch/rest near the museum. Use the station-bound stop and chosen return service. The circular timetable repeats stop names, so match museum departure and station arrival columns in the station-bound rows. Choose a bus after exhibitions, lunch and the walk to the stop. Allow delays and departure preparations for an afternoon onward service; this visit does not fit a morning departure.

  2. Facility entrance → North and South Hall exhibitions

In the morning, see North Hall nature displays and South Hall culture displays, learning through exhibitions about the mountain viewed from the north shore yesterday. Both halls are free. Normal hours are 09:00–17:00; in July–August, the center opens 08:30–18:00; in December–February, it opens 09:00–16:30. Facility guidance lists last admission 15 minutes before closing, while its official FAQ gives a different 16:30 deadline. For late-afternoon visits, confirm last admission with the facility first. South Hall closes the fourth Tuesday monthly, or the next day when Tuesday is a public holiday. North Hall is listed open year-round; check temporary notices. Individual visits need no reservation. Guided visits/programmes have separate conditions.

  4. Kawaguchiko Station → Funatsu pier and Appare circular cruise

Return to the station from the center, have lunch/rest, then head to Funatsu pier. The operator gives about 10 minutes on foot to ticket office/pier, opposite the prefectural free Funatsu car park. This is a different entrance from ropeway Lakeside Station across Route 137. Check regular/summer/winter service periods and suspension notices before choosing an afternoon Appare. Allow center return, lunch, pier walk and ticket queues before departure. The approximately 20-minute circuit returns to the same pier. Crowding, capacity and weather may prevent your chosen sailing; check boarding availability there. If Appare is suspended after morning center sightseeing, omit the cruise and return to your station-area hotel.
