Admission
Individual Great Buddha Hall admission costs ¥800 for junior high school students and older, ¥400 for elementary students ages 6–12. The hall/Todai-ji Museum combined ticket costs ¥1,200 and ¥600 respectively. Pay in cash; other halls such as Hokkedo and Kaidando charge separately.
Opening hours
The Great Buddha Hall is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April–October and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. November–March. The museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April–October, with admission until 5 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. November–March, with admission until 4:30 p.m.

How to get to Todai-ji · 東大寺
Walk about 20 minutes toward Noborioji from Kintetsu-Nara Station to Todai-ji. For bus access, take a loop bus from JR Nara or Kintetsu-Nara to Todaiji Daibutsuden–Kasugataisha-mae, then walk about five minutes. Both estimates cover temple access; add time to reach and wait at the Great Buddha Hall ticket counter.

The hall and museum open at different times
The Great Buddha Hall opens at 7:30 a.m. April–October and 8 a.m. November–March; the museum opens at 9:30 a.m. If arriving early, visit the hall first. Check visit-day notices for events or temporary changes.
Leave sightseeing time after reaching Todai-ji
The approximately 20-minute walk from Kintetsu-Nara to Todai-ji excludes reaching and waiting at the hall's ticket counter. Leave separate time to see the Great Buddha as well. JR Nara and Kintetsu-Nara are different stations; check your starting station.
