Admission
Regular temple admission is JPY 700 for adults and JPY 300 for primary and junior high school students. Preschool children enter free. Holders of a disability handbook pay JPY 300 on presentation. Zazen and overnight experiences have different conditions and fees from an ordinary visit.

Visiting hours are 8:30 am–4:30 pm, with guidance to arrive by 4 pm. It is listed as open year-round without regular closing days, but hours may vary seasonally. Check official guidance for your date, including event restrictions.

Follow corridors to explore connected temple buildings and grounds in sequence. Keep to the signed visitor route. You cannot enter all training areas freely.
How to get to Eiheiji Temple
Take the Eiheiji Liner from Fukui Station east-side stand 1 and alight at Eiheiji. Walk about five minutes to the visitor entrance. It runs daily without seat reservations; allow waiting time because you cannot board a full bus. Fares revised on 1 October 2026 are JPY 1,000 one way for adults and JPY 500 for children.
Before you visit
Indoor stairs and pram restrictions
There are indoor stairs, and prams cannot be taken inside. If bringing a pram, ask about storage. If anyone has difficulty with stairs, ask the temple which sections they can visit.
