Admission
Regular admission is ¥700 for adults and ¥300 for elementary and junior high school students; preschool children enter free. Visitors presenting a disability certificate pay ¥300. Zazen and overnight programs have separate conditions and fees.
Opening hours
Visiting hours are 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with arrival requested by 4:00 p.m. The temple is listed as open year-round without regular closing days, though hours may vary by season. Check official information for your date, including event-related restrictions.

Walk the corridors to see the connected temple buildings and grounds in sequence. Follow the posted visitor route. The full range of training areas is not open for unrestricted access.
How to get to Eiheiji Temple
Board the Eiheiji Liner at stop 1 on Fukui Station's east side and get off at Eiheiji. Walk about five minutes from the stop to the visitor entrance. The bus runs daily and does not accept seat reservations. You cannot board a full bus, so allow time to wait. Fares revised October 1, 2026 are ¥1,000 one way for adults and ¥500 for children.
Visit tips
Indoor stairs and stroller restrictions
There are indoor stairs, and strollers cannot be brought inside. If you bring a stroller, ask the temple about storage. If someone in your group finds stairs difficult, ask which areas they can visit.
