The canal walking path is free. Cruises and visits to nearby facilities may cost extra.
Opening hours
The walking path is accessible year-round. Gas lamps are lit from sunset to 24:00, and warehouse lights from sunset to 22:30. Nearby shops and cruises follow their own operating hours.

How to get to Otaru Canal
Take a JR train from Sapporo towards Otaru and get off at Otaru station. Walk about ten minutes to the canal. Return from Otaru station on a JR train towards Sapporo.
