How to get to Tenryuji
From Kyoto, take the JR Sagano line to Saga-Arashiyama and walk about 13 minutes to Tenryuji. From Randen Arashiyama, walk about five minutes; from Hankyu Arashiyama, about 15 minutes. These stations share the area name but have different locations.
Before you visit
Building and hall reception end before the garden
Building reception ends at 16:30; Cloud Dragon reception ends at 16:20. Arriving for the garden’s 16:50 deadline leaves little chance for these areas, so arrive earlier if you want to visit them.
