Shinkyo Bridge and the area outside Tobu-Nikko Station have town views. If you are going farther toward Lake Yunoko or Mount Nantai, check the mountain cameras too; conditions can differ from those by the station.
If you want to go beyond Nikko’s Shinkyo Bridge and Toshogu to the Oku-Nikko lakes, allow time for the bus. Adding Utsunomiya on the same day may leave you with little time to explore Nikko itself.
For autumn colour, compare the shrine area with Lake Chuzenji or Yunoko. Leaves at higher elevations can turn earlier, so your travel dates may make one area a better choice.
Yuba fits a Nikko visit; gyoza belongs in Utsunomiya. If you cover both, place meals around the journey.
