Wakayama webcams and updated images

There are views of Shirahama Beach, temple grounds on Koyasan and an underwater scene at Kushimoto. These places are far apart; a beach view will not tell you what conditions are like on Koyasan.

First time in Wakayama?

Plan your route

Shirahama’s beach and the temples of Koyasan take you in different directions. If the Kumano Kodo is on your list, plan buses and an overnight stop around the walk rather than squeezing it between beach visits.

When to visit

A summer beach day and a winter visit to Koyasan call for different clothing. Clear coastal skies tell you little about mountain temperatures.

Local food to try

Wakayama ramen fits the city; mehari sushi, rice wrapped in pickled greens, belongs on a Kumano-side journey.
