Four days in Ishikawa: how many nights in the city and at the onsen?

For ponds, garden scenery and earthen-walled lanes before one onsen night, spend two nights in Kanazawa and one in Yamanaka. For an extra day resting at the hotel and a nearby riverside walk, choose one city night and two onsen nights. The latter visits the market before moving directly to Yamanaka. Airport travel and check-in time are separate.

Frequently asked questions

Does the four-day itinerary with two onsen nights include Kenrokuen?

The itinerary with a market walk on day one and two nights resting in Yamanaka skips Kenrokuen and uses no city loop buses. For the garden and Nagamachi, compare the itinerary with two city nights and one onsen night. The JPY 1,760 subtotal for two onsen nights covers only regular IR return train tickets; accommodation and meals are separate.

Do I need to walk the whole of Kakusenkei from the onsen hotel?

No. Ohanami Kyubei's official estimate of about seven minutes to Korogi Bridge is one way, rather than the full 1.3 km riverside trail. Walk a nearby section and return along the same path. In rain, snow or access restrictions, spend the time resting at the hotel instead.
