Admission
Individual garden/Hoshokan admission: adults ¥700; junior high/high school students ¥400; elementary students ¥300. Interior admission is a separate ¥300 with first-come same-day registration.
Opening hours
Garden 08:45–17:30, reception until 17:15; Hoshokan 09:00–17:00, reception until 16:45. Phoenix Hall interior 09:30–16:10, registration from 09:10. Garden and Hoshokan are listed as open year-round.

How to get to Byodo-in
Walk about 10 minutes from JR Uji or Keihan Uji. They are separate stations with different river-crossing routes; use official access for your station.

Visiting tips
Register on the day for Phoenix Hall interior
Interior registration is first-come on the day. Check availability first because early closure prevents entry. Religious services or events may suspend visits.
Date-specific interior capacity and sessions
Basic information gives 20-minute intervals and 50 visitors per session, but date-specific notices override it. From 16 June–15 October 2026, capacity is 30, with 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:30 suspended. From 16 October 2026, capacity is 35. These are interior conditions, not garden entry limits.
