Individual general admission: adults ¥800; junior high/high school students ¥400; elementary students ¥300; younger children free. Adult Ninomaru-inclusive admission is ¥1,300. Honmaru admission is a separate adult ¥1,000 beyond castle admission, with advance reservation. Painting Gallery admission is also separate.
Opening hours
Castle hours are 08:45–17:00, entry until 16:00. Ninomaru reception is 08:45–16:10; Honmaru 09:30–16:00.

How to get to Nijo Castle
Take Karasuma Line from Kyoto, changing at Karasuma Oike to Tozai for Nijojo-mae. Use Exit 1 and walk to the East Main Gate ticket office. Check actual-date trains and fares separately.

Visiting tips
Enter the castle before Ninomaru reception ends
Ninomaru reception ends at 16:10, but castle entry ends at 16:00. Do not arrive late based only on palace reception time.
Castle and palace closure days differ
Nijo Castle closes 29–31 December. Ninomaru closes Tuesdays in January, July, August and December, or the next day if Tuesday is a public holiday, plus 26 December–3 January. Honmaru closes the third Monday and following day monthly, except when those dates are public holidays, plus 26 December–3 January.
Do not choose Ninomaru-inclusive admission on its closure days
You cannot see the interior during closure. Check available areas for your date before choosing tickets.
Questions about Nijo Castle
Does Ninomaru-inclusive admission also cover Honmaru?
Honmaru needs a separate ticket and advance date/time booking. Ninomaru-inclusive admission does not cover it.
