Garden 08:30–17:00, reception until 16:50. Buildings 08:30–16:45, reception until 16:30. Cloud Dragon 09:00–16:30 on opening days, reception until 16:20. Open weekends, public holidays and specified periods.

Buy garden admission to explore the grounds. You can choose the garden alone without building interiors.
Separate Cloud Dragon viewing
The Dharma Hall Cloud Dragon is open weekends, public holidays and specified periods, with a separate charge from garden/building tickets.

How to get to Tenryu-ji
Take JR Sagano from Kyoto to Saga-Arashiyama and walk about 13 minutes. From Randen Arashiyama, walk about 5 minutes; from Hankyu Arashiyama, about 15. These similarly named stations have different locations.
Visiting tips
Buildings and Dharma Hall end reception earlier
Buildings close reception at 16:30, Cloud Dragon at 16:20, versus garden 16:50. Arrive earlier for those areas rather than aiming at garden last entry.

Building and hall suspensions
Building closures include after 12:30 on 1 April 2026 and 29–30 October. Cloud Dragon closures include 28–30 October 2026 and 2 January 2027. Events and religious services may change access; check date-specific notices. Check garden operations separately during those closures.
