Ride Beppu Ropeway up Mount Tsurumi for mountain views, then walk gently near the summit.
The ride from lower Beppu Kogen Station to upper Tsurumi Sanjo Station takes about ten minutes one way. Return by ropeway after your walk.

Return fares are ¥1,800 for junior high school students and older, ¥900 for children aged four through elementary school, and ¥1,700 for ages 70 and older. One-way fares are ¥1,200 for junior high school students and older, including ages 70 and older, or ¥600 for children aged four through elementary school. City buses and bathing are separate.
Opening hours
First departure is 09:00. From March 15 to November 14, last ascent is 17:00 and last descent 17:30. From November 15 to March 14, these are 16:30 and 17:00. There is no regular closure day, but poor weather, maintenance and inspections may suspend operation.

How to get to Beppu Ropeway
Take a Yufuin-bound route 36 from Beppu Station west bay 1 to Beppu Ropeway stop. Walk about one minute to the facility. Ride from lower Beppu Kogen Station to upper Tsurumi Sanjo Station. Adult bus fares are ¥500 one way or ¥1,000 return; ropeway tickets are separate. Timetable services marked 不 skip the ropeway, so check outward and return services together.

Check last descent and return buses separately
Last ascent and descent vary seasonally. Some route 36 buses after your descent skip the ropeway stop. Choose a stopping return service from the timetable, then descend before it. Ropeway tickets and bus fares are separate.
