Chichu Art Museum brings together Monet’s Water Lilies and Tadao Ando’s architecture. Most of the building is underground, but natural light changes how its artworks and spaces appear over time.

Admission
Online adult admission costs JPY 2,500 on weekdays or JPY 2,700 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. On-site prices are JPY 2,800 on weekdays or JPY 3,000 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; visitors aged 15 and under enter free. Reserve a date and entry time. If online tickets sell out, no same-day on-site tickets are sold.
Opening hours
Open 10:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:00. Closed Mondays, except when Monday is a public holiday; it then opens Monday and closes the following day.

What to see at Chichu Art Museum
Art, light and space
While viewing Monet’s Water Lilies, take in the surrounding space and incoming light. Natural light enters Tadao Ando’s building, changing the appearance of artworks and spaces over time.
How to get to Chichu Art Museum
Take a local bus from Miyanoura Port to Tsutsujiso, transfer to the free shuttle and get off at Chichu Ticket Center, then walk to the museum entrance. G marks the ticket centre and shuttle stop on the official Benesse House area map. Follow the path towards the separately marked Chichu Art Museum to the southwest. Reaching the ticket centre is not entering the museum, so allow walking and entry-queue time to arrive for your reservation.

Visiting tips
Island transport around your reservation
Choose your admission date and time, then select boats and island buses that get you there. The shuttle’s ticket-centre stop is separate from the museum entrance, so allow walking time.
Maintenance closure January 12–March 19, 2027
Chichu Art Museum closes for maintenance from January 12 to March 19, 2027. Leave the museum out of your itinerary during this period. For other dates, check both the opening calendar and available reservation times.
