Admission
Individual admission costs JPY 500 for adults and JPY 170 for elementary and junior high school students; preschool children enter free. Admission is free on January 1 and March 16. Boat rides and teahouses cost extra.
Opening hours
Open every day, with seasonal hours. January and December: 07:00–17:00; February: 07:00–17:30; March: 06:30–18:00; April–May and September: 05:30–18:30; June–August: 05:30–19:00; October: 06:00–17:30; November: 06:30–17:00. Storm or blizzard warnings may cause temporary closure.

Follow the paths to see pines and ponds together. Different viewing directions reveal different scenes within the same garden.
How to get to Ritsurin Garden
By Kotoden, get off at Ritsurin-Koen Station and walk about seven minutes towards the east gate. By JR, get off at Ritsurinkoen-Kitaguchi Station and walk about three minutes towards the north gate. These are different stations. The official walking estimates exclude traffic lights, ticketing and garden sightseeing.
Visiting tips
Distinguish the east and north gates
Use the east gate from Kotoden Ritsurin-Koen Station or the north gate from JR Ritsurinkoen-Kitaguchi Station. These are different stations, so choose your exit gate around the train you will take back.
