Visitor information
Admission
Collection admission is ¥400 for adults, ¥260 for university students and free for senior high school students and younger. Groups of 20 or more pay ¥320 for adults or ¥200 for university students. Special-exhibition prices vary; if also visiting the collection that day, collection admission is half price.
Opening hours
October–February hours are 10:00–18:30, with gallery entry until 18:00. March–September hours are from 10:00 until 30 minutes after sunset, with gallery entry until sunset.

From the collection to the lakeside
After the exhibits, walk outside by the lake. On rainy days, shorten the outdoor walk and spend more time with the indoor artworks.

How to get to Shimane Art Museum
The museum is about a 15-minute walk from JR Matsue Station. Allow a suggested 60–90 minutes for exhibits, then return along the same path. For a bus because of rain or difficulty walking, check that route's fares and times separately.

If you plan to wait for sunset
For lakeside sunset views, plan around the sunset time and weather. Check seasonal museum hours. Cloudy weather may obscure the sunset.

Closures and exhibition schedules
Closed Tuesdays and December 28–January 1. When Tuesday is a public holiday, it opens that day and closes the next. Special-exhibition schedules may alter closure days.

Can Shimane Art Museum store large luggage?
Lockers beside general reception take a ¥100 coin, returned after use. Oversized luggage can be left at reception. Bring a ¥100 coin and ask reception if lockers are full or your luggage is too large.
