Individual admission is JPY 800 for adults and JPY 400 for elementary, junior and senior high school students; preschool children enter free. Tax is included. For groups of 20 or more, adults pay JPY 600 and students JPY 300.
Opening hours
The main entrance opens 09:00–18:00, last admission 17:30. The secondary entrance opens 10:00–15:00 weekdays and 09:00–16:00 weekends and public holidays. For cash payment, use the main entrance.

How to get to The Sand Museum
Take a local bus from Tottori Station’s terminal to Suna no Bijutsukan-mae (砂の美術館前). The ride takes about 21 minutes, followed by a one-minute walk to the museum. From Sakyu Higashiguchi (砂丘東口), walk about five minutes.

Check that your date falls within the exhibition period
The exhibition runs April 24, 2026–January 3, 2027, with no closure days during that period. The museum closes for exhibition changeovers; for later visits, check the next exhibition’s opening date.
Different entrance hours and payment options
Cash is accepted only at the main entrance. The secondary entrance opens 10:00–15:00 weekdays and 09:00–16:00 weekends and public holidays, closing earlier than the main entrance. For a late-afternoon arrival, reach the main entrance before its 17:30 last admission.
