Oiyama starts at Kushida Shrine and follows roughly 5 km through Hakata to Susakimachi. Display floats stand at separate sites and do not all take part in the race.
The directions below use one representative location, not every venue entrance or the complete procession route. Use the official venue map for your ticket or programme.
Getting there by train or bus
From Hakata Station, take the Nanakuma subway to Kushida-jinja-mae, then walk about two minutes. Gion Station on the Airport Line is about six minutes away on foot.
Planning your visit
Inspect the decorative figures by day. For Oiyama, staying within walking distance of Kushida Shrine avoids relying on a first train that may arrive too late.
