Dance teams turn colourful bell-covered umbrellas through Tottori’s centre. The coordinated umbrella movements and ringing bells are the main street-viewing attraction.

The main loop uses Wakasa-kaido, Katahara-dori, Chizu-kaido, Taiheisen-dori and Ekimae-dori. Groups start at different positions. The eve's event is at Fumon Square by Tottori Station.

Getting there by train or bus

Take the Super Hakuto from Osaka or Super Inaba from Okayama to Tottori, then walk into the central area north of the station.

History and traditions

The civic festival grew from local umbrella dancing. Its name evokes bell sounds and the city's flowing hot springs.
