Yamaga Lantern Festival

山鹿灯籠まつり

Yamaga is known for dancers wearing golden paper lanterns and lantern offerings. In 2026, the mass lantern dance and fireworks were cancelled; shrine rituals continued rather than the usual full programme.

In a normal edition, the thousand-person dance uses Yamaga Elementary School's grounds, while lantern offerings are at Omiya Shrine. The 2026 cancellation applies to the large dance and fireworks; neither is promised for the next edition.
