Getting there by train or bus

Take the Yamagata Shinkansen from Tokyo to Yamagata Station and walk towards Tokamachi. Choose a viewing section on the official parade map before heading towards Nanokamachi.

Planning your visit

Stay for several teams to compare the hat movements and formations instead of continually moving ahead of the parade.

History and traditions

The dance is linked to traditions in Obanazawa. Yamagata's city festival brings traditional and newer group choreography together.
