Venue and parade route

Morioka · 盛岡

The main parade runs along Chuo-dori from the Iwate Public Hall frontage toward Eigakan-dori. Traditional performances at Marios west of Morioka Station use a separate venue.

Getting there by train or bus

  • Take the Tohoku Shinkansen to Morioka, then walk toward Chuo-dori. Use the event map for pedestrian access during road closures.

History and origins

A Mitsuishi Shrine legend tells of a demon promising to stop troubling the villagers, who celebrated by dancing. Local dance traditions continue in today's festival.
